CM Punk and Drew McIntyre have been feuding since WWE Royal Rumble 2024. Before Bad Blood, the arch-rivals locked horns twice with McIntyre taking the win at SummerSlam 2024 and Punk emerging victorious at Bash in Berlin 2024. They went at it again, this time inside Hell in a Cell at Bad Blood, which might be the last match in their current feud.

It was one of the most brutal bouts in the history of WWE, as it soon turned into a blood bath after Punk hit his opponent on the head with a toolbox. This spot was later criticized by many people, as McIntyre had to get 16 staples on his head after the horrific injury.

In an exclusive interview with Sportskeeda Wrestling, Afa Anoa'i Jr. said that although CM Punk vs. Drew McIntyre did not need that type of a spot and the injury could have been avoided, it certainly added depth to their ongoing rivalry.

"Well, I mean they necessarily didn't need that headshot. But it's part of the story. It adds the drama, it's the frustration of where these two people are at in the story. And at the end of the day, sh*t happens too. And that's the credit to Punk and McIntyre is that they're old school guys that can work through that," he said.

Jim Cornette believes either CM Punk or Drew McIntyre should be off WWE TV for some time

During an edition of the Jim Cornette Experience podcast, the wrestling veteran said that he believed there was nothing to add to CM Punk and Drew McIntyre's current feud and if one of them is off WWE TV for a while then the other can go on to start a different storyline with someone else.

"I don't honestly know that you can do anything else with them, with each other right now. And it wouldn't hurt for one, or maybe both, to be off, selling the injuries for a while. (...) If one of them is off for a few weeks so that the other one could get involved in another thing with another person, and then that person comes back later on and gets involved with somebody else, it's not as obvious a split, right, 'cause they still hate each other," said Cornette.
