ECW legend Shane Douglas recently recalled how Paul Heyman once paid The Blue Meanie extra money after a grueling match against The Sandman.

Douglas was one of several wrestlers who refused to work with The Sandman at one stage in the 1990s due to his in-ring recklessness. On one occasion, The Blue Meanie was left battered and bruised after an encounter with the ECW icon.

In an interview with WSI's James Romero, Douglas said he told Paul Heyman to double Meanie's pay after he had been in the ring with The Sandman:

"He is beat to hell. I mean, bloodied here [face], here [neck], here [shoulder]. It's like somebody went out there and tortured him. I went over and he didn't complain to me about it. I took him right to Paul and I said, 'Do you condone this?' I mean, this guy was basically tortured in the ring, right? And I made him pay him double that night." [2:32 – 2:52]

Douglas clarified that he has no problem with The Sandman in real life. The two recently joked around at a convention alongside former ECW valet Francine.

The Sandman once injured Shane Douglas on one of Paul Heyman's shows

Although they are on good terms now, Shane Douglas once suffered two broken knuckles during an incident on a ring apron with the former WWE star.

Douglas had Tommy Dreamer locked in a sleeper hold when The Sandman misjudged a forceful kendo stick shot:

"He comes behind me and swung [the kendo stick] like a baseball bat, hits me in the back of the head so hard that the kendo stick wrapped around mine and Tommy's head and broke these two knuckles," Douglas continued. "I was like, 'How do you hit somebody that hard?' right?" [3:26 – 3:40]

Douglas also spoke about the real reason why WWE initially rejected Chris Benoit after his tryout matches with the company in 1995.
