Prayers up for former WWE champion Mike Rome

WWE star Mike Rome recently took to social media to share heartbreaking news about his family member's critical condition. Rome is a former 24/7 champion.

Mike Rome has been signed with World Wrestling Entertainment since 2016. The star has mainly worked as an in-ring announcer across the Stamford-based promotion's three brands, NXT, RAW, and SmackDown. He is currently assigned to the company's developmental brand. Despite being an in-ring announcer, Rome won the 24/7 championship from Samir Singh moments after the latter won the gold from R-Truth in 2019.

The 43-year-old NXT star recently took to his Instagram Stories to share the heartbreaking news of his mother's critical health condition. Mike wrote that the people close to him knew his relationship with his mom was complicated, before revealing that she was in a coma in the hospital. Rome then asked everyone to pray for her well-being.

"If you know anything about me, you know my relationship with my mom is complicated. With that said, she's in [a] coma in the hospital, and any and all prayers for a positive outcome for her would be greatly appreciated," he wrote.

Mike Rome sent an emotional message after leaving WWE SmackDown last year

In May 2024, Mike Rome was shifted back to NXT from Friday Night SmackDown. Following the announcement, Rome took to Instagram to send a message. The star wrote that the developmental brand was an integral part of his career from 2016 to 2018. He also mentioned that he was extremely excited to return to the black and silver show.

"@wwenxt was a massive part of my life from 2016 -2018 (even though I moved to #wweraw during 2016). With all the changes in my life in 2024 I’m beyond excited to be near my home in #Orlando more, and to rep the black and gold again!" he wrote.
