WWE News: Reason why Baron Corbin was not on WWE TV this week

Corbin is one of the Superstars that has greatly benefited from the brand split

After a vicious chairs match against Kalisto at TLC, Corbin may be in for a big push and an insertion into the main event picture. Corbin has been fleshing out his character on the Talking Smack show alongside Smackdown and has been able to carve a niche for himself in the WWE SmackDown Live roster.

However, The ‘Lone Wolf’ was off Smackdown Live this past week. Corbin was in fact, at the Webster Hall in New York City attending the 2016 Revolver Music Awards. He won the award for the Most Metal Athlete of 2016. He was accompanied to the award ceremony by Corey Graves.

Corbin had been nominated for the award alongside the likes of NHL players Robin Lehner and Drew Stafford, UFC fighter Julianna Pena and Matt Brown. He beat out the competition to grab the honour.

Corbin later said that being a Metal Athlete was about doing what pleased him despite what people thought about his actions. He revealed that he was overwhelmed by the support and thanked his fans all around the world for voting for him.

This award puts Corbin in the same category as Triple H who had won the same award in 2013.

Baron Corbin has been one of the most improved superstars of the year. After winning the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royale at WrestleMania, Corbin engaged in a feud with Dolph Ziggler. He was drafted to SmackDown Live during the brand split and has been in a raging rivalry with Kalisto ever since.

Corbin has the WWE brass on his side at the moment and he might just grow into one of the biggest heels in the coming year.

With a lean roster, Corbin is afforded more TV time and his in ring work has improved considerably as well. Time and again, Corbin has made it clear that he dislikes smaller guys like Kalisto and he proved his point when he took down Kalisto with The End of Days on a pile of chairs at TLC.

Here is a video snippet covering Corbin’s time at the Webster Hall in New York for the awards.
