"Somebody waiting to explode right now" - Gunther spoke highly of 2-time WWE champion

Gunther's run on WWE's main roster revived the Intercontinental Championship's prestige, which had been lost for a while. However, The Ring General spoke highly of a multi-time champion ahead of the annual Draft.

The annual WWE Draft will bring new superstars and opportunities to the main roster after WrestleMania. The former NXT and NXT UK Champion, Ilja Dragunov, received high praise from his former rival ahead of the two-night event.

Speaking on Gorilla Position, The Ring General was asked about upcoming superstars, and Gunther spoke highly of Ilja Dragunov and his recent work on the developmental brand.

"I think somebody that will do great going forward is Ilja [Dragunov]. I think that's somebody waiting to explode right now. He just wrestled on RAW. The Draft is coming up. So, let's see (...) I think he would be the guy that I would single out right now that performs at this stage that he is, almost too advanced for." [From 24:38 to 25:05]

Gunther made a drastic change to Imperium on WWE RAW

Imperium hasn't been able to have a standout run as a unit due to a weak link or two. The faction initially had four members before Alexander Wolfe was kicked out of the stable during their run on NXT.

Later, Giovanni Vinci was left on the developmental brand, while Gunther and Ludwig Kaiser were moved to WWE's main roster under the old regime. However, Triple H reunited the trio under his regime at WWE Clash at The Castle 2022.

Unfortunately, Vinci has taken too many losses for the faction, and it didn't sit well with The Ring General after the star's legendary reign as the Intercontinental Champion ended at WrestleMania XL by Sami Zayn.

Recently, Gunther made his return to Monday Night RAW. After a tag team match against The New Day, The Ring General ordered Kaiser to take out Vinci, and he was kicked out of the group. It will be interesting to see if a star replaces Vinci in the group.
