Tyson Fury made a surprise appearance during the main event of WWE Clash at the Castle 2022. Recently, Austin Theory, who was the unfortunate recipient of a devastating knockout punch by the Gypsy King, shared insights into how this shocking moment came to fruition.
Roman Reigns and Drew McIntyre clashed for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship at the PLE in Cardiff. During a chaotic moment when both competitors were incapacitated and the referee was down after a Claymore Kick, Theory attempted to capitalize on the situation by cashing in his Money in the Bank contract. However, Tyson Fury, seated in the front row, intervened, knocking the former United States Champion out cold.
In an interview with Chris Van Vliet on INSIGHT, Austin Theory disclosed that Triple H had jokingly warned the Gypsy King not to knock out the former WWE Tag Team Champion's teeth during the planned spot.
"I was ready for a legit punch. It could have been; it was so fast, and I just remember Triple H making the joke to him [Tyson Fury] like, 'Hey, he [Theory] will come down with his briefcase; he'll try to cash in, and you'll just punch him, but try not to knock his teeth out.' Then I'm just looking at Tyson Fury. I'm like, 'Whatever, at least it's by this guy,'" he said.

The 27-year-old star admitted he was prepared for a punch but didn't anticipate the severity of the blow, leaving him unconscious on the ground. Theory added:
"So I just remember running down as soon as I turned and locked eyes with the ref and put my arms out; it was over. So I don't know if it was a real one or not, because I was just laying on the ground." [H/T: CVV]

Austin Theory called out Tyson Fury before this year's WWE Clash at the Castle
The 2024 edition of WWE Clash at the Castle took place at the OVO Hydro Arena in Scotland. Neither A-Town Down nor Tyson Fury participated in the PLE.
Speaking to Bodyslam, before Clash at the Castle, Austin Theory challenged the Gypsy King by throwing several jabs at him.
"I’m always there; I’m always on the grind. But Tyson, if you feel like putting those donuts down, you wanna step up, come stand beside a real man—a man with so many abs that you wish you just had one—show up to Clash at the Castle. That’s all I wanna talk about when it comes to Clash at the Castle. So let’s see what happens, because I’ll be there; I’ll be a champion. Tyson Fury? Well, hopefully he’s in shape," he said.
Given that the former WBC Heavyweight World Champion's interference cost Austin Theory the WWE Championship, it remains to be seen whether a David vs. Goliath battle between the two will unfold in the future.
