John Cena returned at the 2025 Royal Rumble to kick-start his retirement tour, which he already announced would end in December.
It's now six months into the year, and we are halfway through the final year of Cena's WWE career. The 17-time World Champion announced that he had signed on for 36 dates with WWE for the tour, and he now has just 19 appearances left, having already marked off 17 of them.
By the end of June, Cena will be down to around a fortnight's worth of appearances before he retires from the company for good, which means that there are only 19 appearances left for someone to take the Undisputed WWE Championship away from him.
Of course, John Cena made it clear that these were appearances and not matches, but now that Seth Rollins has the Money in the Bank contract, he could force an appearance to become a match if he so chooses.
John Cena has revealed why he will walk away from WWE for good in December
It's hard to believe that John Cena will never step into a WWE ring again after December. The current Undisputed WWE Champion has made it clear that he is no longer as fast as he used to be, and he made a promise to walk away when he realized his time was up.
At 48 years old, Cena has already changed the business and ensured that he will always be a household name, but it seems that he wants to be able to walk away and be a retired wrestler who remains retired no matter what.
Retirement in wrestling has always been considered uncertain, but Cena has created this tour to ensure he is able to leave with no unfinished business and not become another star who is unable to remain on the sidelines.
