While Shane McMahon is no longer part of WWE, there was a time when it appeared he would be taking over the company after Vince McMahon. However, wrestling veteran Vince Russo thinks that only one situation would have allowed for that series of events to play out.

Vince McMahon was known to run a tight ship during his time in WWE, seemingly having his hand in managing every part of the company. Furthermore, it did not seem like he was going to retire at all had the scandals surrounding him not forced his departure.

According to Vince Russo, the only time when McMahon himself would have chosen to hand over the reins of the company to Shane McMahon would be if he knew his health was failing. Speaking on the latest episode of The Wrestling Outlaws, the veteran stated:

"I don't think he would knight Shane until he knew his health was failing. When something happens where he knows, okay, then he would do it. I don't think he would do it beforehand." [7:36 onwards]

A WWE veteran thinks Vince McMahon is heading back to wrestling

According to JBL, Vince McMahon cannot help but work despite not needing to.

Speaking on his Something to Wrestle podcast, the WWE veteran talked about a conversation he had with McMahon, which revealed the kind of work ethic the latter had.

"I just don't know how he can keep himself from it. He's gonna invest. He's got all the money in the world. He never has to work again a day in his life. He didn't have to work for years, and he loves to work. I've told you the story many times, 'I don't know how you stay out there on that golf course for four hours. My God, that's hell.' He couldn't understand being four hours away from work because all he wants to do is work." [31:26 – 31:48]
