Veteran wrestling journalist Bill Apter recently spoke about Vince McMahon trying to buy back WWE. The 79-year-old promoter may be looking to return to the entertainment business.
Mr. McMahon stepped back from his role at TKO after the Janel Grant lawsuit picked up momentum. The company distanced itself from the former Chairman and CEO after the negative backlash. However, former WWE employee Jonathan Coachman recently reported that the veteran wrestling promoter was looking to buy the company again.
This week on The Wrestling Time Machine with Mac Davis, Bill noted that Mr. McMahon possibly still wanted to regain control of WWE. He stated that despite the push from Vince, TKO would not sell to him. The veteran journalist felt the parent company wouldn't want to do business with Vince McMahon, given the bad press it would generate.
"We were talking about Vince's new company, and the rumor is that he is still, even though it's not for sale, he still wants to buy back WWE. I will tell you right now, TKO is not going to budge. They don't want him involved with that name whatsoever." [From 1:43 onwards]
Vince McMahon has already started a new company 14TH & I. The company will focus on opportunities relating to sports, entertainment, and media. However, there is no clarity whether he will pursue professional wrestling opportunities as well.
