“Will be remembered forever”- Former WWE writer details the influence of Hulk Hogan and Ozzy Osbourne after their passing (Exclusive)

The last few days of July were an absolute shock for anyone involved with the WWE, including the wrestlers and the fans. Two WWE Hall of Famers, Hulk Hogan and Ozzy Osbourne, passed away towards the end of July, within a day of each other, leaving the entire sports entertainment industry in shock.

Hulk Hogan was one of the most prominent names in professional wrestling, who helped bring the sport into the mainstream. Similarly, Ozzy Osbourne was a pioneer when it came to Heavy Metal, being the co-founder and vocalist of Black Sabbath.

Osbourne was also a lifelong WWE fan and made many appearances for the promotion, earning him a place in the celebrity wing of the WWE Hall of Fame. Former head writer for the promotion, Vince Russo, detailed the influence both Hall of Famers had on their fields in an interview on Sportskeeda WrestleBinge.

"There'll never be another Ozzy Osbourne or Hulk Hogan ever, and I mean, I think, you know, obviously losing Hulk, but the impact of just two like freaking giants who can never, ever be replaced. It's, oh my God, bro. Like it was just like, just too much to handle. But again, why were these guys so over characters? Hulk Hogan wasn't just a wrestler. Ozzy Osbourne wasn't just a rock star. It was the persona. It was the character. It was the brand that they built. And that's why both of these guys will be remembered forever," Russo said. [From 7:09 onwards]

Both Hulk Hogan and Ozzy Osbourne were involved in the second-ever edition of WrestleMania, but weren't present at the same arena. Osbourne was managing The British Bulldogs in their WWF Tag Team Championship win at Rosemont Horizon in Chicago, while Hogan defended the WWF World Heavyweight Championship against King Kong Bundy in a Steel Cage match in Los Angeles.
