A WWE Hall of Famer mentioned that Eddie Guerrero planned an infamous incident during their match that left fans worried. This match took place in 2004.

JBL initially started his career in the Stamford-based promotion as a tag team with Ron Simmons called the APA. They eventually grew in popularity until their split. Following this, JBL went on to have a successful career as a singles wrestler and even won the WWE Championship. At one point, he was the longest-reigning WWE Champion in SmackDown history.

John "Bradshaw" Layfield won the WWE Championship at Judgment Day in 2004 against Eddie Guerrero. This iconic match was infamous due to a chair shot that left Eddie bleeding profusely. Many fans were left worried, thinking that Eddie had bladed himself too deep during the match. However, it seems as if that was not the case.

JBL recently took to social media to clarify that Eddie planned the entire incident, as the angle needed it.

"Eddie called it a ‘business blade’, he did know what would happen. This was what he wanted, he knew the angle needed it."

JBL attributes his career to Eddie Guerrero

When JBL initially started his singles journey under his new name and gimmick, fans were not buying into it. However, things changed once John "Bradshaw" Layfield had his legendary feud with Eddie Guerrero. This feud helped solidify JBL as a singles star.

Speaking on the Rosenberg Wrestling podcast, JBL attributed his career success to the late WWE Hall of Famer.

"You know, when I say I owe Eddie Guerrero a 100% of my career for JBL, I owe him 100%, you know," Layfield said

JBL then recalled an incident that took place at a house show that also involved Eddie's mother. During their match, Eddie's mother faked a heart attack, which didn't please the arena filled with Latinos.

"It was sold out that day and it was almost 100% Latino. They're all there to see Gory Guerrero's widow and Eddie Guerrero, her son and then I come out and she fakes this heart attack and Eddie has been busted open with a chair and he's down," Layfield recalled. "When that video aired, everything changed," said JBL.
