WWE star R-Truth returned to the company at Money in the Bank after announcing his release days ago. Veteran wrestling journalist Bill Apter shared his thoughts on how the incident may have panned out backstage.

Earlier this week, Truth announced that he would be parting ways with the company. The news came as a shock to fans, given that he was so involved with John Cena's current run as a heel. In fact, he had just wrestled the 17-time Champ at Saturday Night's Main Event. During the press conference, Triple H confirmed that it was all part of the storyline.

During an exclusive conversation with Sportskeeda Wrestling, Bill agreed with Bubba Ray's comments on the Busted Open podcast. He suggested that the company probably kept everyone in the dark about what was going on. He felt that not even the biggest stars knew about the situation, leading to shocking responses from them.

"I had the same thought that Bubba Ray Dudley did on Busted Open that this whole thing with R-Truth was probably a work. They didn't even smarten up anybody in the dressing room or anything. No one knew anything about it," Apter said.

R-Truth struck down Cena with the championship title this week as the crowd cheered. This allowed Cody Rhodes to pin the champ after hitting a Cross Rhodes.

It will be interesting to see the fallout from Truth's return on SmackDown this Friday.
