Randy Orton has been missing in action since failing to dethrone John Cena for the Undisputed WWE Championship at Backlash. After weeks of absence, the company finally provided a positive update on his status.

He will be coming back on SmackDown in time for Night of Champions. During the latest episode of RAW after Money in the Bank, Michael Cole shared the brackets for the King and Queen of the Ring Tournaments.

On the men's side, Randy Orton will participate in a Fatal Four-way match, featuring LA Knight, Carmelo Hayes, and Aleister Black. The winner of this first round will go on to face Sami Zayn in the semifinals of the tournament, with the finals taking place at WWE Night of Champions in Saudi Arabia on June 28.

As announced earlier this week, the 2025 King of the Ring winner will receive an opportunity to face the world champion of their respective brand at SummerSlam.

Is Randy Orton vs. Cody Rhodes inevitable in WWE?

Cody Rhodes will also be one of the participants in the WWE King of the Ring tournament. Should The American Nightmare advance to the finals, he could lock horns with his former Legacy mentor and best friend, Randy Orton.

In a recent interview with Billboard, The Viper opened up about potentially facing Rhodes down the road.

"So yeah, me and Cody in the ring, it would be a match with two equals going at it. I think the storytelling capabilities that we have — even though the stuff with Roman, with Brock and with John was great — it would blow all of that sh*t out of the water. When the time comes for me and Cody to tell that story, I think it’ll blow anything out of the water"

Cody Rhodes will face Damian Priest, Andrade, and Shinsuke Nakamura in a Fatal Four-way match.

Fresh off his pinfall victory over John Cena at Money in the Bank, it will be interesting to see if The American Nightmare earns himself an opportunity to reclaim his title at The Biggest Party of the Summer.
