Former WWE manager Teddy Long recently shared his thoughts on Jey Uso's booking. The star has been at the receiving end of some brutal beatings over the last couple of weeks.
The World Heavyweight Champion has found it tough to battle the combined forces of Seth Rollins, Bron Breakker, and Bronson Reed. During backstage interviews on the red brand, the star has noted that he was banged up but still ready to get into the ring because that's what champions do. He will have a tough challenge awaiting him this Monday as he defends the title against Gunther in a WrestleMania rematch.
This week on the Wrestling Time Machine with host Mac Davis, Teddy noted that the booking was possibly WWE's way of swerving the fans. He felt fans could anticipate that Jey Uso might lose the title this week, but could be in for a huge twist. The Hall of Famer felt that Jey would retain the gold.
"I think that he will keep it. I mean sometimes you go through a lot. And that's a way you can swerve the fans a little bit, you know what I mean? The way it's looking now, if I were a fan, I wouldn't think Jey would retain it. But to me, my personal opinion, I think he will keep it." [From 0:51 onwards]
Jey Uso has a huge challenge in the form of the Ring General on RAW. Seth Rollins winning the Money in the Bank briefcase further complicates things with the risk of a cash-in.
It will be interesting to see if Jey can walk out of RAW as the World Heavyweight Champion.
