WWE will continue on The Road to the Royal Rumble with a grudge match on tonight's live SmackDown episode.

Santos Escobar turned heel on the LWO in November. He went to war with the group while promising a new alliance, which was revealed three weeks ago as Angel Garza and Humberto Carrillo returned to the main roster to help him defeat Bobby Lashley in a tournament match.

LWO's Cruz Del Toro and Joaquin Wilde attacked Los Lotharios last week, which led to their former Legado del Fantasma boss losing the tournament finals to Kevin Owens, who earned a shot at United States Champion Logan Paul.

WWE has now confirmed that the blue brand's faction wars will continue on tonight's SmackDown as Garza and Carrillo take on Wilde and Del Toro in tag-team action. This will be their first standard tag team match on SmackDown since January 20, 2023.

The official WWE SmackDown match preview for tonight noted how the LWO members are looking to silence Escobar by defeating Los Lotharios.

"The LWO's Joaquin Wilde and Cruz Del Toro will look to defend the honor of their group as they take on Santos Escobar's newest partners, Angel and Humberto. Wilde and Del Toro are still riding high after an impressive showing in NXT where they teamed with Carlito to take down the No Quarter Catch Crew, but their attention now turns back to LWO business as they look to silence Escobar by defeating Angel and Humberto. Don't miss this incredible tag team match live on Friday Night SmackDown at 8/7 C on FOX!" WWE wrote.

The former NXT Cruiserweight Champion and his 28-year-old cousin have not worked a main roster match since the RAW Battle Royal on May 15, and before that, it was the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal on March 31. The cousins had their last standard tag team main roster match on the January 20, 2023, edition of SmackDown, where they were defeated by Hit Row.

The third-generation lucha stars were drafted to RAW in the 2023 WWE Draft but were sent to NXT a few months later before getting the chance to compete in the main roster tag division. Garza and Carrillo worked their last NXT match on November 28 when they came up short against NXT Tag Team Champions Tony D'Angelo and Channing "Stacks" Lorenzo.
