In case you did not know…

Kenny Omega and Chris Jericho faced off in a high profile match at Wrestle Kingdom 12. It was the co-main event of the show and the IWGP United States Heavyweight Championship was on the line as well.

After being engaged in a to and fro battle that lasted more than thirty minutes, Omega retained the title by pinning Jericho.

The heart of the matter

The tweet sent out by Omega marks his first comment after the match with Jericho. The Cleaner noted that it was one of those fights that had no clear victor.

He went on to say that such fights are always the best ones and concluded by thanking everyone who tuned in for the show. It was a clear sign of respect for Jericho, who brought his A-Game to the fight.

What’s next?

The immediate future plans of both Jericho and Omega are currently unknown. There are rumors about a potential appearance from Jericho at Royal Rumble but nothing is confirmed as of now.

As for Omega, the future plans that NJPW has for him might become clear at the New Year Dash event.

Author’s take

The Omega vs. Jericho match drew rave reviews and the match deserved all of it. Just like Omega noted, there was no clear winner from the match. On paper, he might’ve retained the title but Jericho benefited big time as well.

All the fans marked out seeing Jericho perform at the high level and this translates to a happy ending for The Ayatollah of Rock 'n' Rolla. It will be interesting to see what the future holds for both men as they are high on momentum that could be put to good use.
