NXT News: Johnny Gargano talked about NXT Takeover Rematch
What's the story?
Johnny Gargano and Andrade Cien Almas are set to face off against each other in a rematch of their match from 'Takeover: Brooklyn III' where Almas won, after interference from Zelina Vega. Johnny Gargano talked to Vic Joseph about the match and his thoughts heading into the contest.
In case you didn't know...
Johnny Gargano was part of the tag team DIY, which split up at 'Takeover: Chicago' when his partner, Tomasso Ciampa, turned on him following their failure to win the Tag Team Titles in a Ladder match. Gargano later returned to NXT and focused on being 'Johnny Wrestling' again.
In the match against Cien Almas at 'Takeover: Brooklyn III', Gargano was ready to pick up the win and was preparing to deliver his finisher when he was distracted by Zelina Vega as she threw a DIY t-shirt at him. Seeing the t-shirt of his former tag team distracted him long enough for Cien Almas to take advantage and pick up the win.
The heart of the matter
Gargano, in his interview with Vic Joseph, said that he was never going to forget what happened with him at 'Takeover: Brooklyn III', but he was not going to allow it to distract him. He claimed that the incident just made him more prepared for the match, and said that no matter what mind games Vega tried during his match with Cien Almas, he was not going to allow it to affect him. He also said that he was going to take this chance to show the world and his opponents in the one on one match, why he was called 'Johnny Wrestling'.
The two are set to face each other at NXT in a rematch of their NXT Takeover: Brooklyn III encounter.
Johnny Gargano has yet to get over splitting up from his tag team partner Ciampa and will look to push all that aside during his match with Cien Almas. It will need all he has if he is to emerge as the victor in that encounter.
