NXT Takeover: War Games 2019: 3 Botches and mistakes you missed during the show

NXT Takeover, actually took over Survivor Series this weekend in Rosemont, Chicago and they have definitely set the tone for what could be the best weekend of the year. WarGames made history with the first-ever women's version of the match, even though the match itself was quite controversial it was another notch for WWE to add to the on-going Women's Revolution.

It was a night that also saw Kevin Owens make his return to NXT for the first time since his tenure as the Champion of the brand when he returned as a face and helped Tommaso Ciampa to defeat Undisputed Era and stake his claim for a rematch for the NXT Championship.

It was a night that will be remembered for several years, but whilst there were many things to remember there were also several moments to forget.

#3 Roderick managed to recover well

Roderick Strong was part of an impressive War Games match alongside the rest of Undisputed Era as they collided with Tommaso Ciampa, Keith Lee and Dominik Dijakovic with Kevin Owens only being revealed as the fourth member of Ciampa's team on the night.

This meant that The Undisputed Era were at a disadvantage heading into the match and with Ciampa's team consisting of several bigger guys, it made sense that there were a lot of spots where Undisputed Era was thrown across the ring.

One of these instances came when Dijakovic and Ciampa threw Strong across the ring and he was supposed to go over both top ropes and take out his team but he lowered down to go through the middle rope and wasn't able to take out his team so they bumped the move anyway.

#2 Rhea Shipley?

Takeover: War Games made history this year for a number of reasons, one of these was because there was a match on the pre-show for the first time. As part of the pre-show, Pat McAfee joined Charley Caruso and Sam Roberts and was able to go off on a complete rant where he put over the show in Chicago in quite a powerful speech.

Whilst Pat's promo was an interesting one, it probably didn't make up for the fact that a few minutes earlier he had decided to refer to Rhea Ripley by a new name. When talking about the fact that Ripley was in a tough position because Mia Yim had been taken out minutes before their match, McAfee accidentally called the former NXT UK Women's Champion "Rhea Shipley" before going on to correct himself.

This isn't the first mistake that the WWE Universe has picked up from McAfee whilst he's been worked on WWE's pre-show panel since he called The Authors of Pain obese a few years ago, which caused a lot of controversy on Social Media when Pat was relatively unknown to the NXT Universe.

#1 Who's Candice LaRae?

The Women's WarGames match kicked off last night's Takeover event and saw Rhea Ripley manage to overcome some impressive odds to pin the NXT Women's Champion and stake her claim to become the next woman to fight for that title.

Rhea had Candice LeRae, Tegan Nox and Dakota Kai on her team, but after Ripley became the second woman in the match, Kai was chosen as the third and decided to turn and attack Tegan Nox. This prevented Nox from entering the match and meant that Candice and Ripley were forced to take on Team Baszler alone.

Ripley was able to come out on top though after she delivered a Riptide to Baszler through two chairs.

Whilst Candice put on a fantastic show for Ripley and proved her worth, sadly the thing that fans will remember most about last night's show is that LeRae's name was spelled wrong by WWE.

The lower third that flashed up when she made her way out for the match called her Candice LaRae, which is shocking since her name with the correct spelling was on the titantron behind her.
