Opinion: Next week's gauntlet match is perfect for setting a big WrestleMania match for the US Title

With the culmination of this week's SmackDown Live! episode we are left with less than four weeks to the Grandest Stage of them all.

WWE had started to announce matches and roll out interesting storylines for the Night of the Immortals. One of the biggest draws of the night will be the WWE Championship match.

A few months back no one would have thought in his wildest of dream about Kofi being in the contention for the WWE Title. Kofi's stellar performance in a gauntlet match on SmackDown Live! left WWE's most critical of fans astonished.

His meteoric rise has vibes similar to Bryan's triumph against the Authority at Wrestlemania 30. Current WWE Champion Daniel Bryan was in a similar situation back then.

A lot of obstacles were thrown in his way to overcome in order to prevent him from winning the coveted title, the same underdog story is being told with Kingston.

As announced by WWE Chairman Vince McMahon himself, Kofi Kingston would have to defeat four other superstars in a gauntlet match to earn an opportunity at WWE Championship. These four superstars are Randy Orton, Sheamus, Ceasaro, Rowan and Samoa Joe.

Now there are very little chances for Kofi to beat all these four superstars by himself. Though it will be a great achievement for The New Day member helping establish Kingston as a force to reckon with. According to me, WWE can book some outside assistance to ensure his win.

One such superstar which can return to help Kingston is John Cena. Since winning the United States Championship, Samoa Joe has mocked Cena on a regular basis. This can be the perfect stage to set up a Wrestlemania match between the two.

United States Championship has not been in any significant program at Mania since Rusev faced Cena at Wrestlemania 31. A big win for the Samoan Submission Machine against Big Match John can help him establish as the force he is.

This development will be apt considering the number game is against The New Day. Cena can help The New Day along with AJ Styles (due to his problems with Randy Orton) to even out the odds against them.

This gauntlet match can prove to be the perfect catalyst for a Mania match between Joe and Cena with the United States title being on the line. This can presumably kickstart a rivalry which has been rumored now for over a year to happen.
