Opinion: The Hardy Boys could revitalize the Tag Team division

The return of Matt Hardy and the Hardy Boys reunion was possibly one of the better things to have happened this week for WWE because the reunion could not have happened at a better time.

It is very evident that currently, the tag team division, be it on Raw or SmackDown is in shambles. The Revival, the current Raw Tag Team Champions have been beaten two weeks in a row by the NXT call-ups and they've just been turned into whipping boys yet again. Whatever respect they had accumulated recently by winning the title has been taken away from them yet again.

On the other hand, on SmackDown, the number of times we've seen The Bar, The Usos and The New Day contend for the tag team titles is just beyond ridiculous now. Why teams like SAnitY and The Good Brothers don't even get a decent run is unfathomable.

The formation of Shane Mcmahon and The Miz seemed to revitalize the division for a while but even that has fizzled out

Even the team of The Miz and Shane McMahon which should have been a breath of fresh air was a stop-gap arrangement for a future feud between the duo. What this does is it leaves the Usos at the top of the mountain with the same contenders chasing the title – the same lot that they have fought against for almost a year now. This is where the reunion of the Hardy Boys makes it a lot more interesting and could, in a sense, revitalize the division.

The Hardy Boys have not gone against any of these teams and to add to it, the crowd just loves them. So even if they're made the Champions and they do end up fighting the likes of The Bar, The New Day and The Usos, the fans would still engage. What it has also done is given a specific direction to the Hardys as well as Jeff, who has been meandering in the mid-card for a while now without doing much. On the other hand, Matt was himself recovering from injury. It remains to be seen how WWE go about with this but with the Hardy boys returning, it could mean a rejuvenation in the Tag Team ranks if WWE play their cards well.
