2018 is almost coming to an end and 2018 has been kind to quite a lot of WWE Superstars as they reached the pinnacle of their divisions and accomplished a lot in these 365 days.

This article will look at the top candidates in the running for the title 'Superstar of the Year'. This list will include only 3 top stars who have had a great year. These three are Seth Rollins, Braun Strowman, and Becky Lynch. However, a few deserving superstars have been left off this list due to its short length and they fall under the category 'Honorable mentions'.

The honorable mentions for this list are AJ Styles and Ronda Rousey.

The candidates will be graded according to their ring work, character work and accomplishments through the year.

Now, let's get down to the first candidate of this list.

Note: This list only takes into account the main roster superstars, which is why NXT's best stars have been left out.

1.Seth Rollins

Ring work: 9/10

Character Work: 8/10

Accomplishments: Won the Intercontinental Championship twice, Won the Raw Tag Team Championship and became a Grand Slam Champion

Seth Rollins is one of WWE's most consistent performers. He always manages to put on a great show in the ring, which is why he has achieved a ninety percent for his ring work.

Rollins' character shows him as a resilient,die-hard babyface who stands for what is right. He had an incredible performance in the Gauntlet match that took place in February; that showcased his character to perfection.

His current feud with Dean Ambrose also tells us a lot about how good his character work is. However, Rollins' feud with Dolph Ziggler over the summer saw him use shortcuts such as roll-ups to win, which played against his character.

Rollins won the IC title at Wrestlemania from The Miz, and he won it again against Dolph Ziggler at Summerslam. His first reign was incredible as he put on great matches night after night and defended it regularly.

However, his second IC title reign was forgettable as it was overlooked and overshadowed by the story-line of the Shield and the aftermath of Dean Ambrose's betrayal. Rollins also won the Raw Tag Team titles with Ambrose, but Ambrose betrayed him seconds after that. I don't know if you could even count that as a title reign.

2. Braun Strowman

Strowman was at his best this year

Ring work: 8/10

Character work: 7.5/10

Accomplishments: Won the Raw Tag Team Championship alongside a 10 year old (Nicholas), Won the Greatest Royal Rumble, Won the Money in the Bank ladder match

Braun Strowman is a freak of nature that is incredibly agile for a man of his size. His ring work is awesome for a big man and is perhaps the best the WWE Universe has ever seen.

However, Strowman's ring work is inferior to WWE's elite competitors like Seth Rollins and AJ Styles. Strowman's matches are often short too, hence he has insufficient time to show off his wrestling prowess.

Strowman is shown as a fearless monster and wrecking machine. The WWE Universe loves to see Strowman maul and tear his opponents apart in dominant fashion. However, his heel turn was a complete bust and WWE thankfully made the right decision to turn him face again.

This year, Strowman finally won championship gold and it was great to see the title around his massive shoulders. Strowman's tag-title reign lasted for 24 hours as he vacated it the next night due to Nicholas's scheduling conflicts.

Furthermore, his Royal Rumble win was insignificant as there were no stakes involved and his win was quickly forgotten. Strowman became Mr. Monster in the Bank, but he failed to cash it in successfully as his cash-in match against Roman Reigns at Hell in a Cell was interrupted by Brock Lesnar's return.

3. Becky Lynch

Lynch is definitely awesome
Lynch is definitely awesome

Ring work: 8.5/10

Character work:10/10

Accomplishments: Won the SmackDown Women's Championship and became the first woman ever to top ESPN's Power Rankings

Becky Lynch has money and talent written all over her. She is as good as it gets. Her ring work is amazing, she can put on great matches and she always exceeds expectations.

Her Last Woman Standing match with Charlotte at Evolution was superb. Lynch is great in the ring, but not the best as the WWE Universe has seen better in-ring performers than her.

Lynch excelled in her role as a lovable babyface and exceeded all expecations as a heel. Lynch currently calls herself 'The Man' and not many would disagree with her. Her promos remind us of Stone Cold and The Rock, her taunts and insults are great too. She managed to make good talkers like Edge look weak on the microphone.

Furthermore, she made the crowd boo the overwhelmingly popular Ronda Rousey and has taken over in terms of popularity. Lynch is still the hottest and most popular star on the WWE roster.

Lynch finally reached the pinnacle of the women's division when she became SmackDown Women's Champion at Hell in a Cell when she defeated Charlotte.

Now, that I've graded all 3 candidates, it's time to announce the winner and it's none other than:

'The Man' Becky Lynch.
