Charlotte Flair is one of the most talented performers on the WWE roster. Her possible addition though to what appears to be the main event at Wrestlemania 35 could serve as a distraction to the company’s goal of cementing Becky Lynch as the hottest attraction in WWE.
While adding Charlotte to the mix doesn't make the match worse, the real issue is between Lynch and current Raw women’s champion Ronda Rousey. It’s the showdown the fans want. With the rumours that Ronda might go away for sometime in order to create a family with her husband Travis Browne, this might be the only time that we are able to see Rousey vs Lynch one on one.
'The baddest woman on the planet' will come back however as she is a part of the deal with fox and smackdown's move to Fridays. With that said, after Wrestlemania we might have to wait until 2020 in order to see this match. Let's not forget that WWE wants that 4 horsewomen match and seeds have been planted since day one.
Last Monday we all saw why this match does not need Charlotte Flair. The dynamic between Rousey and Lynch is unreal as well as the crowd reaction. Against a pro-Becky crowd, Ronda cut the best promo of her short career, despite the fact that minutes ago she couldn't even speak.
Charlotte, on the other hand had a great match against the Raw women's champion. She can always eject her self into the match, but she lost the Royal Rumble match and therefore any discussion of her being in the main event is scraped. If not, then what's the point of the Royal Rumble in the first place?
What makes a one on one match between Ronda and Becky special is the dynamic of those two competitors. The arm-bar variation, the explosiveness in the ring, the stamina, the desire to be in ring generals. That's what the wrestling fans want. That's the things we will not get at a triple threat match. This rivalry goes back to the Survivor Series build, it should end in an all out war.
If WWE wants to make history at this year's Wrestlemania then this match should be the main event of the evening. The fans haven't rallied behind someone so hard since Daniel Bryan in 2013-14. There's only one outcome for this match and by adding Charlotte to the mix you risk her credibility.
With that said, Flair had her Wrestlemania moment. It's time for the Irish superstar to shine brighter than she ever had, by holding the championship up high at the end of the night. We are not taking anything away from Charlotte though, she's a vital part of the women's evolution in WWE, an evolution which is finally here.
