WWE News: Paige indicates she'll miss the  first ever Women's Royal Rumble

We hope Paige recovers soon from her injury

What’s the story?

There has been a lot of talks recently about Paige missing the first ever Women's Royal Rumble Match, with reports suggesting she may be facing another prolonged spell on the sidelines having just recovered from a serious neck injury.

Well, after our report yesterday on the rumor that she'll miss the Rumble, we've finally heard from the woman herself as she has taken to Instagram to confirm the injury.

In case you didn’t know…

Paige was injured during a six-woman tag team match last month at a New York house show with the match even stopped after Paige took a heavy knock.

Medical staff was required, and a stretcher was called out, but Paige was able to walk to the back, hinting initially that the injury may not be too serious, but the reports following had hinted at a lengthy spell on the sidelines, with WWE and Paige being pretty quiet on the matter until now.

You can see the footage of her injury below.

The heart of the matter

Well, Paige has finally taken to Instagram to confirm the injury. It's been no secret that she's injured, with her doing no physical work for WWE since the injury occurred and playing valet for Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville on RAW, but speaking about it on social media seems to have confirmed the worst, that she will be out of action for a long time.

Well, the most worrying thing here is that Paige had only recently made her return to WWE after a serious neck surgery caused her to miss several months of programming.

After a load of controversy and an injury so bad it required surgery, the WWE Universe got completely behind Paige when she returned. It looked like things were finally back on track for the former Divas Champion and NXT Women's Champion after she returned to an incredible reception and took the division by storm as leader of Absolution.

What's next?

Well, at the time of publication, Paige is still confirmed as a participant for the WWE Women's Royal Rumble Match with nothing from the company to say otherwise, but WWE could either completely ignore the news and replace her on the night, or they could just be giving Paige as much time as possible in case the injury isn't as serious as first thought - but Paige's comments today would indicate it doesn't look good.

Author’s take

It's never nice to see a WWE Superstar get injured, particularly one who's so young with plenty of promise seemingly suffering setback after setback.

Paige came into WWE with a crazy combination of both youth and experience, and looked like she would be a mainstay on the roster for a long time - but an unfortunate series of events has killed any momentum she's gathered over the past two years.

We hope for Paige's sake that the injury isn't as bad as initially feared and we wish Paige all the best on what will hopefully be a speedy recovery!
