Paige injury update: WWE wants the former Divas Champion to return in the summer

Paige is expected to return to WWE soon

What’s the story?

Despite the controversy surrounding Paige, WWE wants to bring her back and use her on television as soon as she is medically cleared, according to PW Insider. Paige also took to Twitter before and after her medical check-up to inform fans of her condition.

In case you didn’t know...

Paige is currently dating Alberto Del Rio, and the couple is expected to get married soon. WWE and Del Rio have had their issues in the past, and in spite of Paige being employed, Del Rio has not been shy about expressing his sentiments about his negative experiences in the company.

The heart of the matter

Paige has been out injured due to a neck and shoulder injury. The injuries heightened to a level where she needed surgery. She is expected to come back soon, as PWInsider reported that the company still wants to use the former women’s champion in some capacity.

Reportedly, the promotion plans to have her return in the summer. Paige notified the public via Twitter that her checkup following the neck surgery she underwent was on April 10th. After the check-up, Paige informed her fans that she was in less pain now and thanked her doctor as you can see in the tweet above.

What’s next?

Despite failing a wellness policy and rumours of her attempting to get out of her contract, on top of the other added baggage, Paige is expected to return to a WWE ring this year. It is unknown whether the WWE wants to use her to get their “money’s worth” out of her until her contract expires, or if they want her to stick around long-term.

It is also unknown at this time as to which brand she will join on her return or when her contract will expire.

Author’s take

It is interesting that WWE wants Paige to return to the company after all that has happened in the past year. Hopefully, though, the two parties can put everything behind them and get back to business soon.
