What's going on with The Miz?

The WWE Championship is another title that's wide open at the moment, given Daniel Bryan's heel turn. It's unlikely that AJ Styles will regain his title, especially with his contract set to expire. Beyond Styles, Daniel Bryan has no clear challengers. Perhaps they'll call someone like Aleister Black up from NXT (which could potentially be amazing), but The Miz looks like he's turning face at the same time as Bryan turned heel. That's probably for a reason.

With SmackDown's babyface side of the equation so weak, a new face was needed in the wake of Bryan's turn. Miz is an interesting choice. It appears likely that he'll renew his feud with Daniel Bryan, with the two competitors aligning differently this time.

Will Miz actually get the job done, though, before a new superstar shakeup comes around and gives Daniel Bryan potentially more challengers? That's harder to guess. At this juncture, though, Miz is the best guess, so we're going with him.
