Royal Rumble 2019
Royal Rumble 2019

The Royal Rumble is one of WWE’s longest running PPVs. It is one of the most exciting PPVs of the year largely due to the Royal Rumble match. This year the Royal Rumble is set to take place on January 27.

Being just a few days away, we decided to go ahead and name our predictions for all the matches on the main card. These predictions are based purely on the writer's opinion. Let us know your own predictions in the comments section below.

The Bar (c) vs The Miz and Shane McMahon

The Bar VS. The Miz and Shane McMahon

Predicted winner: The Bar

The Bar are a well-oiled machine in the tag team division and have been one of the most popular tag teams in WWE. On the other hand, The Miz and Shane McMahon have just started teaming together. Just the way that their team was formed seems almost too strange to be true.

However, this could be WWE’s way of setting up a storyline between The Miz and Shane McMahon for WrestleMania. Our best guess is that either Shane McMahon or The Miz will turn on each other during the match which will set up their feud for WrestleMania. Given that Miz just turned face, it will probably be Shane McMahon who will betray The Miz turning heel in the process.

This will lead to The Bar retaining their Tag Team Championships.

Asuka (c) vs Becky Lynch

Predicted winner: Asuka

This is a tough one to predict. Asuka just recently won the Smackdown Women’s Championship at the TLC PPV hence WWE may decide to let her hold the belt for a few more months. Becky Lynch is currently the most popular woman on the WWE roster.

She is getting major reactions from the crowd. Hence, WWE may have bigger plans for her at WrestleMania. They could even place her in a triple threat match against Charlotte Flair and Ronda Rousey.

WWE will give her (Asuka) a longer title reign to prove what she is capable of considering the fact that WWE are trying to give the fans what they want. This seems like the most logical plan going forward for WWE.

Daniel Bryan (c) vs AJ Styles

Predicted winner: Daniel Bryan

This match is expected to be absolutely vicious. Both men have been at each other’s throats and have brawled all over the arena. AJ Styles has had the upper hand through the majority of this feud but he may not end up going over Daniel Bryan.

Daniel Bryan’s gimmick indicates that he will do anything to win this match even if he has to play a little dirty. This match could have a controversial finish with a DQ or Daniel Bryan could low blow Styles when the referee isn’t looking.

AJ Styles spent the better part of 2018 as WWE Champions hence it would make perfect sense for WWE to keep him away from the WWE title for a few more months (at least until WrestleMania).

Ronda Rousey (c) vs Sasha Banks

Ronda Rousey Vs. Sasha Banks

Predicted winner: Ronda Rousey

This match is probably one of the easiest matches to predict. Sasha Banks is currently in a tag team with Bayley and will most likely challenge for the Women’s Tag Titles. They may even become first-ever Women’s Tag Team Champions. This also means that Sasha won’t be walking away from the Royal Rumble as the RAW Women’s Champion.

Moreover, WWE may have even bigger plans for Rousey heading into WrestleMania 35 with regards to her opponent. Even though the result is quite obvious, the match itself promises to be exciting.

Brock Lesnar (c) vs Finn Balor

Predicted winner: Brock Lesnar

Finn Balor was suddenly pushed into the Universal Title picture out of nowhere. Now, he finally gets his one on one rematch for the title he never lost. What may seem like a fairytale for Balor may soon turn into a nightmare as he faces Brock Lesnar this Sunday at the Royal Rumble.

Finn may believe he can beat Brock but we already know the outcome of the match the very minute it was announced. This will be the ultimate David vs. Goliath experience. There is absolutely no scenario in which I see Balor walking out as Universal Champion which is a pity considering how badly he deserves it.

WWE will definitely try to protect Balor by having him put up a tough fight against ‘The Beast’ but ultimately he will be dragged to suplex city where he will succumb to the F-5.

Women’s Royal Rumble Match

Predicted winner: Charlotte Flair

The Women’s Royal Rumble match is slightly easier to predict compared to the Men’s Royal Rumble match. This year, it looks like Charlotte Flair could be walking out the winner. This also makes perfect sense as she could resume her rivalry against Ronda Rousey (if Ronda wins her match).

At this moment, the match against Rousey at WrestleMania looks much more promising. It’s also one match that would make perfect sense since the last time they both fought, Charlotte was disqualified. The two women could finally settle the score at the grandest stage WWE has to offer – WrestleMania.

WWE could also throw Becky Lynch into the mix and make it a triple threat match since both women have their own issues with Ronda Rousey.

Men’s Royal Rumble Match

Predicted winner: Braun Strowman

Braun Strowman won the biggest Royal Rumble match in history last year and he has been on a roll ever since. Clearly, ‘The Monster Among Men’ is one of WWE’s most protected wrestlers. Strowman may not have officially announced that he will take part in the Royal Rumble match, but he did hint that he will be waiting for Lesnar on the other side of the Royal Rumble PPV.

These two behemoths were set to clash at the Royal Rumble PPV but WWE decided that they didn’t want Braun to lose another match to Lesnar. Braun Strowman Vs. Brock Lesnar could definitely happen at WrestleMania given that both men win their respective matches at the Royal Rumble.
