It’s been three weeks since AJ Lee cut a promo termed as ‘Pipebombshell’ by CM Punk.
Nobody expected her to do that. After a normal divas match, which lasts less than a minute and which typically saw Natalya lose to a lame move by Brie Bella, AJ Lee’s promo was a sweet surprise.
It woke up the crowd and made the divas champion relevant again. It created such a ripple effect that people wanted to know what is going to happen with the divas next.
The following week she interrupted a match between the Total Divas (Naomi, Brie Bella and Natalya), which was apparently a Number One Contenders Match.
I was wondering why only these three divas were getting that opportunity. Well, AJ cut the action short but she was overpowered by 5 women. But she did not give up till the last moment. Anyway, that led to a fatal four way match booked for Night Of Champions and now we clearly have a locker room of Total Divas and Divas.
AJ has a 25 percent chance of defending and retaining her crown. But a victory for any of the other three can result in a Total Diva Victory.
So it is safe to say that the odds are stacked against AJ. This storyline is the most substantial storyline for the Divas division. AJ-Kaitlyn rivalry was good, but it did not have the staying power.
My prediction is that AJ won’t leave without a fight, and she’ll look great in defeat. Yes, defeat!
If AJ wins, the feud ends, and that means that the Total Divas are everything what AJ said and why would WWE do that to its reality TV stars?
The show is definitely a hit and WWE would rake in the moolah and bask in the success of the show. If AJ wins in this match, it will only make the show lose its credibility. It’s a show about WWE divas, and the different thing about them is that they’re tough and athletic and can win matches.
A Total Diva winning means that the feud will continue. AJ doesn’t really lose much if she loses on Sunday. She’s been carrying the division with this storyline on the mic, and in commentary (“I think I’m a little too old for you, Jerry. I’m 26. I know you like them younger.”) A loss for AJ will give the Total Divas something to brag and talk about.
I hope Natalya wins and gets her due. She looks more believable as a ‘wrestling’ champion. It’s about time that she becomes the champion again, and precisely that’s why this match should get enough time and AJ and Natalya should be given the opportunity to put on a good fight.
But Natalya should defeat another Total Diva in the process, so AJ can, in the future, instigate her and further the feud by saying that she did not submit or get pinned.
I hope this storyline is not swished aside and it gets ample time to develop and garner more interest, and it does not get stuck as a breather or filler match at Night Of Champions.
