Sexy Star

What’s the story?

Sexy Star has broken her silence regarding the incident with Rosemary at AAA’s TripleMania XXV event this past weekend.

In case you didn’t know…

Due to a recent agreement between Global Force Wrestling (GFW) and AAA, talents from both promotions have appeared on each other’s programming.

GFW’s Rosemary competed in a fatal four-way match against AAA’s Sexy Star, Ayako Hamada, and Lady Shani, at TripleMania XXV, AAA’s biggest show of the year. During the finish, Sexy Star allegedly intentionally injured Rosemary’s shoulder during a legitimate arm bar submission.

Since the incident, numerous people within the wrestling industry have spoken out against Sexy Star’s actions, including Rosemary, and have called for a severe punishment.

The details

When asked about the incident on a Spanish reality show, Sexy Star discussed the matter. She begins by explaining how difficult her life has become in the days after the event in regards to the overwhelmingly negative sentiment she has faced from fans and colleagues.

She continues by stating that while the situation may have gotten out of control, she is choosing to remain quiet on the matter until she is no longer confused about it.

After declaring that many men and women want to see her retire from the sport, Sexy Star then states that she will not stop wrestling because she feels she represents women that have suffered mental and physical abuse.

In regards to Rosemary, Sexy Star does not mention her by name, but does address her injury in the following excerpt (loosely translated from Spanish):

“It appears the girl is injured, I don't know, it is not something I am aware of.”

Sexy Star maintains that she was simply trying to give the fans all she had and give them a show they deserve.

Implications

Based on her comments, it appears that Sexy Star is not assuming any guilt for injuring Rosemary in the match.

Consequences for her actions were promised in an earlier statement from GFW regarding AAA’s handling of the incident, so this is definitely not the last word on this issue.

Author’s take

It is fascinating to think that after all that has transpired since last weekend’s event that Sexy Star still views herself as a role model for physically and mentally abused women.

In addition to this, she has not assumed any kind of fault for Rosemary’s injury, whether it occurred purposely or accidental. Sexy Star seems to be unaware of the severity of her actions during her statement on the show.
