During the latest episode of Friday Night SmackDown, Randy Orton called out Kevin Owens to settle their rivalry once and for all. However, his plan backfired as The Prizefighter got into an unsanctioned fistfight with Orton. This ended in Owens delivering a scary piledriver to The Apex Predator which left him lifeless on the mat and eventually, he was carried out on a stretcher to an ambulance.

Later on SmackDown, Michael Cole informed fans that Randy Orton’s injury was serious, and he was being medically assessed to have an undisclosed cervical injury. Amid the seriousness of the situation, it’s possible that The Viper could come out next week on SmackDown and announce the sad news that he would have to retire.

However, the injury and early retirement could be part of the storyline. It could be used to stir the animosity in the ongoing rivalry between Cody Rhodes and Kevin Owens. Furthermore, The Viper going off television for a lengthy period could set the stage for his future heel turn and dream match against The American Nightmare.

Cody Rhodes could take revenge on behalf of Randy Orton at Survivor Series 2024

WWE's next Premium Live Event is Survivor Series: WarGames, which is set to take place at the Rogers Arena in Vancouver, Canada, on November 30, 2024. At the recent edition of the blue brand, the Stamford-based company confirmed the WarGames match between Roman Reigns’s OG Bloodline and Solo Sikoa’s Bloodline.

In the coming weeks, Cody Rhodes could come out and challenge Kevin Owens for a rematch at Survivor Series to punish him for what he did to his close friend and mentor Randy Orton. The American Nightmare has already defeated The Prizefighter at Bash in Berlin 2024.

It remains to be seen if the Undisputed WWE Champion will once again defeat Owens in a rematch, especially since The Prizefighter this time will be coming at him with clear intentions of hurting him, unlike last time.
