Bray Wyatt began feuding with Matt Hardy on WWE television in late 2017. During the feud, Matt Hardy introduced his "Woken" Matt Hardy gimmick to WWE. This was a version of the "Broken" Matt Hardy gimmick that he used during his previous run with IMPACT Wrestling.

After trading victories in matches on Monday Night RAW and pay-per-view events, Matt Hardy faced off against Bray Watt in a cinematic match on RAW at The Hardy Compound called "The Ultimate Deletion." "Woken" Matt Hardy was victorious in the match, throwing Bray Wyatt into the Lake of Reincarnation, causing Wyatt to disappear in the process.

Several weeks later at WWE WrestleMania 34, Matt Hardy competed in the traditional Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal. During the match, Bray Wyatt returned to WWE television and assisted Matt Hardy in winning the battle royal, last eliminating Baron Corbin.

Once the match was over, Matt Hardy and Bray Wyatt embraced in the ring and posed before the WWE Universe, seemingly transforming from rivals to partners. Wyatt and Hardy would then go on to form a tag team known as The Deleters of Worlds, becoming RAW Tag Team Champions. Whilst The Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal took place on the WrestleMania 34 pre-show, it was certainly enjoyable to see "Woken" Matt Hardy and Bray Wyatt become a tag team on WWE television.
