Ranking the next wave of top WWE NXT talent

The Lone Wolf

NXTFor the past two years, WWE NXT has slowly developed and evolved into some of WWE’s best television. Their Takeover specials are consistently on par, or arguably better than the respective WWE PPV’s.For this list we will be excluding already established top tier NXT talents such as Finn Balor, Sami Zayn, Bayley, Hideo Itami, etc. and instead focusing on who will likely cement themselves as a top talent in the near future. So let’s take a look now and rank NXT’s top 5 potential main event talents.

#5 Baron Corbin

The Lone Wolf

Baron Corbin has been an official part of the NXT for quite some time now and has been pushed extremely strong since his debut. However his initial squash matches failed to get him truly over and since then has only had minor feuds.

Corbin always had the advantage of an impressive statue but now as his wrestling ability has been slowly improving, he is maturing into a much better all-round performer.

Furthermore, his new heel persona also has much more potential and with many established names either injured or moving on to the main roster, it frees up room for Corbin to be pushed as a top talent.

#4 Alexa Bliss

Next top female heel?

When Alexa Bliss recently turned heel it was an intriguing decision considering she seemed to be such a natural babyface. However since then, she has excelled in her new role and with the likes of Sasha Banks moving on, she now has the opportunity to cement herself as NXT’s top female heel.

Her entire attitude perfectly captures what a heel should be, along with other subtleties such as her amazing sinister facial expressions. Finally, Bliss is also a talented in ring performer and could easily continue the trend of incredible NXT women title bouts.

Her talent was recently showcased in the recent segment she had with Bayley where she was also able to show off her heel promo skills. Hopefully WWE will realize her potential and push Bliss strongly as the top heel instead of their pet project Eva Marie who is definitely not ready yet.

#3 Gable & Jordan

Gable & Jordan

Chad Gable and Jason Jordan are incredibly over at the moment and will no doubt be in line for major push towards the tag team title picture.

These two amateur wrestlers have clearly demonstrated they possess the in ring talent, often reminding fans of a young Kurt Angle, but more importantly they are also garnering an amazing reaction from the NXT crowds due to their contagious charisma (specifically Gable)

The NXT tag team division is in need of top stars that are not only entertaining but have the in ring ability to back it up and this is where Gable & Jordan will look to advance their careers.

#2 Asuka

Asuka deserves a huge push

With the recent promotions of Charlotte, Sasha and Becky, the NXT women’s division is in need of performers who can continue to deliver amazing bouts.Enter Asuka.

Asuka is the most recent addition to the NXT roster and has already established herself as a future top talent (with the help of an impressive indie resume as Kana). She is perhaps one of the most talented in-ring female workers in the world and could even outshine many of her male counterparts.

A feud between Bayley and Asuka for the NXT women’s championship would be absolutely astounding, so hopefully WWE continues to push her strong.

#1 Apollo Crews

Future NXT champion?

Apollo Crews long awaited debut finally happened a few months back and since then has been treated as a serious competitor. He clearly has the wrestling ability and athleticism to back up his solid physique.

Just recently, WWE demonstrated the faith have in him when he won a number one contenders battle royal to earn himself a title shot against Finn Balor. Although he won’t win the title, this is still a massive step up for Crews so early in his WWE career.

When considering candidates who may actually be the one to finally dethrone Balor, Crews certainly is a likely option.

Please feel free to comment below who you believe will be the next big thing in NXT.
