The upcoming episode of Raw will set the tone for Backlash. Interestingly, this is the only episode between the two PPVs. Hence, WWE will rely heavily on this one to catapult storylines and set the matches for next Sunday.

A lot of questions are still to be answered ahead of the go-home show for Backlash. Here are predictions for this week’s episode.

#1 Roman Reigns address his loss and Samoa Joe

Samoa Joe is hell-bent to defeat Roman Reigns at Backlash.
Samoa Joe is hell-bent to defeat Roman Reigns at Backlash

Roman Reigns lost in the Steel Cage match against Brock Lesnar for the Universal Championship on Friday. Ironically, it was his own signature move which cost him the match. This week, he might mention that in the near future he will take the title away from the reigning champion.

Further, the “Big Dog” will look to put his loss behind him and focus on the man who awaits him, Samoa Joe. Notably, the former TNA Superstar has been quite vocal about how he is going to defeat his opponent. Roman Reigns will have a lot to say about that before he meets Joe in their match at Backlash.

#2 Contenders for the Raw tag-team Championships

They must be eyeing the tag-team championships.
They must be eyeing the tag-team championships.

The “Deleters of the World” became the Raw tag-team champions in Saudi Arabia. Notably, their opponents from that event are part of SmackDown Live. Hence, the Raw General Manager will have to find out the number one contenders for them, if these titles are supposed to be defended at Backlash.

The two Superstars who have stood out since the Superstar Shake-Up are Dolph Ziggler and Drew McIntyre. The “Show-Off” and the “Prodigal Son” will want to continue their impressive run on Raw.

Nothing else will be a better way for them to dominate the tag-team division other than winning the tag-team championships.

#3 Unsolved equations in the Women’s Division

Will Natalya need Ronda's help for three weeks in a row?
Will Natalya need help for three weeks in a row?

There are a lot of issues which needs to be addressed this week in the Women’s division. Nia Jax must reply to the faux promo cut by Alexa Bliss last week, which accused the “Irresistible Force” of being a bully.

Ronda Rousey has defended Natalya for two weeks in a row. It will be interesting to see if the “Rowdy One” has got her friend’s back covered this week as well. Also, the Riott Squad has run wild since they were traded to Raw. They must be eyeing another target this week.

With Backlash around the corner, this division will gain more intensity as the women of the Red brand look to cement their place on the match card.

#4 Will Jinder Mahal get a win?

Can the
Can the "Modern Day Maharaja" turn things around this week?

Jinder Mahal has been on a downhill ride since he was traded from SmackDown Live. First, he lost his United States Championship to Jeff Hardy. Then he lost to Chad Gable last week. To make matters worse, he also lost his rematch for the championship at Greatest Royal Rumble as well.

The Indian Superstar must be willing to redeem himself this week. He might have a re-match against his opponent from the last week, Chad Gable.

Although he is not on the match card for Backlash, it must be on his mind to be on it. It will be interesting to see how the Raw GM thinks about this.

#5 A huge main event

Will one more tag-team match close the show?
Will one more tag-team match close the show?

A lot of storylines are not concrete as Raw goes into the last show before Backlash. However, it will be a great opportunity for the entire roster to put their name into the hat for the upcoming PPV.

It is quite possible that the fans will be treated to a multi-man main event. It could be the team of Seth Rollins, Bobby Lashley, Bobby Roode and Braun Strowman which will take on the team of Kevin Owens, Sami Zayn, Baron Corbin and Elias in an eight-man tag-team match.

WWE Universe has witnessed a couple of great moments at the Greatest Royal Rumble. They will expect this week’s Raw to set the same path for Backlash.
