5 Reasons Sonya Deville should be added to Money in the Bank

#4. Sonya Deville's style is unique to the SmackDown roster

Sporting an MMA style, Sonya Deville has an in-ring presence that's unseen on the Blue Brand. While RAW has Shayna Baszler, there's no one like that on SmackDown.

We also saw a large influx of talent on the Friday night show, with the addition of Shotzi Blackheart, Tegan Nox and Toni Storm to the brand. Still, SmackDown's women's division is missing a bruiser like Deville on deck.

SmackDown needs that stiff-striking, limb-breaking wrestler. Nobody really fits that mold except Sonya Deville. In a company that was once full of former MMA fighters thanks to the Four Horsewomen, she and Baszler have become somewhat rare commodities on the main roster.

If Sonya Deville is brought back for the Money in the Bank ladder match, one would expect for her to be a regular competitor on SmackDown, which is great because...

#3. Sonya Deville would help fill out the SmackDown roster

Though WWE added the three NXT stars mentioned above to the SmackDown roster, it's still woefully underdeveloped. With two of their three top stars, Bayley and Sasha Banks, off the show for now, the brand needs a superstar.

By that, I don't mean the regular WWE Superstar. I mean a mega star. A major player. Prior to leaving the in-ring side of things in 2020, Sonya Deville was one of the most popular wrestlers on the roster. Fans were expecting to see Deville in the title scene after her feud with Mandy Rose.

WWE made the right decision to hand the ball to Bianca Belair. She's incredible and shines like a diamond. However, with Bayley injured for nine months and Sasha nowhere to be seen, Belair is missing the one thing a babyface needs: a top heel.

Shotzi and Tegan are going to be a tag team and won't be involved in the singles title scene. Toni Storm is going to take several months to build up properly. Mia Yim, as great as she is and as great a rival as she was for Bianca in NXT, has been MIA since RETRIBUTION broke up.

We've seen Carmella face Bianca before, and the only reason she's getting a match on SmackDown this week is because of Bayley's injury. Odds are, she won't win on SmackDown and she'll be sent to the back of the line.

It can be argued that Belair was the first major women's star SmackDown decided to focus on building up since Sonya Deville. If we're needing someone to put up against the EST of WWE, there's a great story to tell between her and Deville.
