ROH News: Cody Rhodes shows off eye injury following ROH Final Battle

C
Cody Rhodes probably wants his title back

What's the story?

Cody Rhodes and Dalton Castle had a war at Final Battle. During the match, Cody Rhodes suffered a rather bad cut to his eye when he took a bump off the ring post while trying to crotch castle with the steel support of the structure.

If anyone thought Cody had bladed to make the match colourful, then they are sorely mistaken because The Grandson Of A Plumber recently showed off his war wound for all to see.

In case you didn't know...

Cody Rhodes comes from a rich family history of pro wrestling so plenty of blood has been spilt by Rhodes in the past. After all, there was a reason why WWE Hall of Famer Dusty Rhodes' forehead was covered in scar tissue.

Ironically, Cody Rhodes' brother Dustin, aka Goldust, was once fired from WCW because he bled in a match which happened to be on the bed of a moving truck.

The heart of the matter

Cody Rhodes probably has no objection to blading because it's part of pro wrestling history but no self-mutilation was required at Final Battle. From the look of this photo, Cody was cut pretty nicely along the eyebrow after taking a ring post to the face.

But the match carried on leaving Cody Rhodes with a crimson mask and bleach blonde hair which made a great combination.

If this match would have happened in WWE, it would have probably been stopped so medical personnel could tend to Cody's cut. But since this was ROH they continued on to let the colour of the blood only add to the building drama in the match.

What's next?

Cody Rhodes isn't going anywhere and will continue to be a force to be dealt with in ROH and as a member of The Bullet Club. But he might spend some time chasing the ROH World Championship for once.

Author's take

ROH Final Battle was an amazing night full of pro wrestling and it will be hard to top. But as ROH continues to put on great shows, they might not have any problem making even bigger cards in the future as the production quality and interest in the product continue to rise.
