Roman Reigns looks lost in the shuffle after Wrestlemania 34

What's next for Roman Reigns?

Heading into Wrestlemania, it seemed like a foregone conclusion that Roman Reigns would beat Brock Lesnar and finally conquer "The Conqueror". The WWE Universe at the Superdome were expecting the same as well, which is why they were firmly against "The Big Dog".

Unfortunately for WWE, the crowd did not give much love to Lesnar either, as almost everyone expected this to be Lesnar's last match in the company. With the crowd not happy with one wrestler, and indifferent to the other, the atmosphere was certainly not what you expected from a Wrestlemania main event.

But then Vince McMahon decided to throw a huge curve ball, as Lesnar beat Reigns clean the middle of the ring to leave New Orleans as the Universal champion.

Where did that leave Reigns though?

Ever since Reigns beat the Undertaker at last year's Wrestlemania, the Samoan looked certain to leave this year's event as the champion. Lesnar was built up as this all-conquering beast who would destroy any and everyone who would come in his way.

The F-5 was also protected throughout the year, as no one, and I mean no one, was allowed to kick out from the move. Joe, Strowman and Styles, all fell to the F-5, as the company was waiting for Reigns to kick out of the move at Wrestlemania.

Reigns did kick out, on multiple times last Sunday, but unfortunately, the fans just did not care enough to create any sort of a reaction. The biggest reaction came when the match ended, partly due to Lesnar's shock win and partly because many were quite frankly relieved to see the match come to an end.

Reigns' loss was a big call, as this marked his second loss in his fourth straight Wrestlemania main event. Vince McMahon has put so much time and effort into "The Big Dog" that one must begin to wonder if this experiment has failed.

In his prime, John Cena garnered polarizing reactions and was often booed at Wrestlemania main events. But there seems to be something not right with Reigns right now, and the Universe genuinely seem dis-invested in the guy.

The return of Daniel Bryan will not help Roman either, as the uber-popular wrestler made his in-ring return at Wrestlemania. Bryan did not miss a step and, as was confirmed on SmackDown, has made his return as a full-time in-ring performer.

Bryan was injured soon after a moment of glory at Wrestlemania 31, which is why the company never got the chance to build their product around him. But with the Roman Reigns experiment yet to produce the desired results, the company may decide to showcase Bryan as the top for now.

While this is not curtains for Reigns' career, it certainly puts him in a tight spot. Already facing the uphill task of winning over the WWE Universe, Reigns now has to compete with one of the most popular wrestlers in history.

We wonder what the future holds for Roman Reigns!
