Royal Rumble 2019: How 3 NXT call-ups could make an impact on the Royal Rumble matches

Which NXT call up will have the greatest impact on the Royal Rumble?
Which NXT call up will have the greatest impact on the Royal Rumble?

WWE took a big step by calling up not one, not two, but six superstars to the main roster at the end of last year.

While Lars Sullivan was the only man announced to head to the main roster, he was soon joined by five other superstars who have either already competed in televised matches on the main roster or are waiting for their turn.

Currently, the six superstars haven’t been assigned a brand and therefore we have seen all but Lars appear in short segments or in the background on Raw and SmackDown Live.

One thing is for certain that WWE will definitely try to push at least half of these superstars at the Royal Rumble on Sunday, and we could actually see all six superstars in action in the two Royal Rumble matches.

Keeping that in mind, we have made scenarios of how WWE can use this opportunity to push at least four of these superstars using the Royal Rumble event.

Take a look at the 3 NXT call-ups who could make an impact on either of the Royal Rumble matches and share your views on the same in the comments section!

#3 Heavy Machinery

When it comes to the Rumble, size does matter
When it comes to the Rumble, size does matter

The name says it all. They aren’t just heavy, but they also work perfectly together like a well-oiled machine.

The team of Otis Dozovic (310lbs) and Tucker Knight (320lbs) are not just the two heaviest superstars who might enter the ring on Sunday, but also two of the most talented wrestlers in WWE today.

Being heavy has its added advantage in Royal Rumble matches, as other superstars struggle to eliminate big men over the top rope easily. If both men enter the match in close proximity to each other, eliminating them could prove to be a mammoth task, unless you’re Braun Strowman.

If the two men get a spot in the men’s Royal Rumble match, then we could see them eliminate at least half a dozen men themselves thanks to their sheer size and strength.

If the WWE is ready to commit more to the Tag Team division of the two main brands, especially Raw, then we could see them have Heavy Machinery eliminate The New Day or a similar established tag team to start a new angle involving the duo.

#2 EC3

Will EC3 come to face with Bobby Lashley at the Rumble?
Will EC3 come to face with Bobby Lashley at the Rumble?

EC3 may not have been the full package during his first tenure in WWE, but he has returned better than ever and can match up to any top superstar on the roster.

He has not just evolved physically but has also become a much better wrestler which has helped him garner a bigger fanbase.

He is one of the most experienced men who has been called up to the main roster but has not competed in any televised matches on Raw or SmackDown as yet which means WWE is saving him for something.

EC3 has everything required to become a major heel on either roster and could even be the next Randy Orton for WWE. Keeping that in mind, WWE will need to ensure that he makes a big impact on the men’s Royal Rumble match in order to get noticed and leave a mark.

He can do that by eliminating a few of the crowd favorites, especially the babyfaces, initially which could turn into a long term rivalry. Along with that, EC3 should last a long time in the match and have the commentators build up his chances in the match.

We personally can’t wait to see EC3 eliminate men like Jeff Hardy, Elias, or even Apollo Crews to kick off his initial feuds.

#1 Nikki Cross

Nikki Cross has an incredible character
Nikki Cross has an incredible character

Nikki Cross is a special superstar who has a gimmick rarely seen in the world of women’s wrestling. This is exactly what sets her apart and does just make her an eye-candy, but a character to follow and develop with.

Even though WWE has relied on eye-candy in the past, and even currently, to get the women’s division forward and pull more viewers, bringing in superstars like Nikki who are tremendous wrestlers is a great move.

Nikki has already gotten a top match with Becky Lynch initially when Lynch was the champion and has also competed on Raw, which has provided her with enough exposure to get noticed.

Fans would definitely wait for her to enter the women’s Royal Rumble match, and the later she enters, the more deadly she will be as she isn’t shy to mix it up in the ring, and her endurance helps her going in matches for a long time.

Nikki will most probably play a face on the main roster for some time, and we could see her get the push in the women’s Royal Rumble match as she temporarily teams up with other babyfaces to eliminate heels like Nia Jax, Tamina, The IIconices, or maybe even Shayna Baszler!

The superstar should definitely be pushed the extra mile, and not slowly be buried on the mid-card like Bray Wyatt.
