WWE President Nick Khan reportedly had to get directly involved and call R-Truth, as he wasn't picking up any other calls from the company's side. The reason why Khan had to do that was revealed recently.

Many fans were surprised when it was reported that WWE President Nick Khan had to call R-Truth to make the return deal happen. According to a report from Fightful Select, this was a confirmation (among a few other factors) that Truth's WWE departure wasn't a work or part of a storyline.

According to the report from Fightful, Nick Khan getting involved with R-Truth's return was viewed backstage as a sign that higher-ups are responding to the fans and the roster. Seeing as how rare it was for Khan to get involved in direct contract negotiations with talent, this one was said to be particularly important for the locker room.

WWE reportedly had to "tear" the original Money in the Bank plans apart following the R-Truth situation

It looks like everything planned for the Money in the Bank main event was put aside in the last minute to accommodate the shocking return of R-Truth just a week after he announced that he was leaving WWE.

Some wondered whether this was the reason why the tag team match headlined the show over the Men's MITB ladder match. However, it was announced well beforehand that the tag team bout would be headlining the event. This wasn't the first time this happened.

Either way, according to Dave Meltzer on the Wrestling Observer Radio, WWE had to tear their original plans apart so they could bring him back:

"He's back because of the fans, that's the deal. He's back because of the fans, they saw the outcry. They basically tore apart what they were gonna do tonight when they brought him back and wanted to have the big moment," Meltzer said. [H/T Wrestle Purists]

Whatever the original finish of the match might have been, the outcome would likely have been the same if you go by the wrestling logic that standing tall before the show means one is going to lose.

Cena and Logan Paul had the upper hand during their brief feud with Cody Rhodes and Jey Uso. Now, Jey Uso can move on in the World Heavyweight Title picture as he defends against Gunther on the June 9, 2025, episode of RAW, while The American Nightmare now has a case to go after the Undisputed WWE Champion John Cena.
