WWE potentially planning to bring back former Women's Champion in authority role

The classic WWE Women's Championship belt

The season premiere of WWE SmackDown this Friday is getting viewers excited as some announcements have been made, including the return of Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns. Triple H and John Cena are also set to make appearances.

Aside from what is made official, the word on the rumor mill is that Nick Aldis will make his television debut tonight. The blue brand's latest edition is scheduled to air live from BOK Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

As per WrestleVotes, there were discussions to bring back former Women's and Divas Champion Mickie James to the company. This was based on James' interest in Co-GM SmackDown alongside her husband Aldis.

However, it seems that her returning to the Stamford-based promotion as an authority figure is less likely.

They are a power couple that could make a significant impact on the roster, as many have opined in the past. Mickie James has a long history with WWE. She is currently signed to IMPACT Wrestling.

Trish Stratus wants to induct Mickie James and Victoria into the WWE Hall of Fame

Victoria and Mickie James were top rivals in the Hall of Famer's career, especially the latter. The two had a remarkable feud between 2005 and 2006, owing to its controversial nature. They faced each other at WrestleMania 22, where James won the Women's Championship, the first of her five reigns with the belt.

When Trish Stratus spoke to Casual Conversations with The Classic earlier this year, she revealed that she hopes to induct both names into the WWE Hall of Fame. Furthermore, she even spoke extensively about Victoria:

"The aforementioned Mickie James, that’s for sure. I’d like to Victoria [get inducted]. Soon would be great. I think she’s well deserving. I think she’s underrated [...] I feel like when we were [competing], women’s wrestling was just turning the corner as far as being taken serious. Those matches with her that people [see] like, ‘Oh, this actually legit, and this is a viable part of the entire show.’ So yeah, Victoria for the Hall of Fame," said Stratus. [H/T Fightful]

While the aforementioned report states that it probably won't happen, the company is known to pull shockers. Mickie James returning to the global juggernaut will certainly turn eyes, as she is a massive name in the women's division.
