Drew McIntyre is spending some time away from WWE following his brutal Steel Cage Match against Damian Priest at Saturday Night's Main Event 2025. Amid his absence, a new report has emerged that sheds light on the company rejecting an interesting pitch made by him and Sheamus.
The Scottish Warrior and The Celtic Warrior are two of WWE's toughest performers who don't hesitate to amp up the physicality in their matches. In early 2023, the two performers even tagged along for a few months, famously dubbing themselves "The Banger Bros."
Fightful is now reporting that once WWE became aware that the tag team name sounded similar to that of an adult website, the company asked Drew McIntyre and Sheamus not to reference it again. Moreover, it was noted that the two had pitched a segment with Alpha Academy that was also rejected by the higher-ups.
Drew McIntyre is planning for life after wrestling
In a recent interview with Gorilla Position, McIntyre, who recently turned 40, spoke about how he was keen on picking up new hobbies to keep himself busy once his wrestling career wraps up.
The Scottish Psychopath admitted that he hadn't put much thought into it yet, but after his wife urged him, he was now looking forward to exploring.
"Very few. I need to get some hobbies. My wife's always on me, but apparently I can't wrestle forever, as much as I might try. So, I need to figure out what's the next step. She's always talking about business ventures and the like, and I was like, 'I did the one thing that I always wanted to do my entire life; I don't want to do another job.' So, I figure I need a bunch of hobbies. I don't know what the hobbies are yet, but I'm going to figure it out," Drew McIntyre said. [0:50-1:18]
Drew McIntyre has been a highlight of WWE's programming since the start of 2024, and it remains to be seen when the company plans to bring him back.
