Triple H looks set to make another blockbuster signing for WWE to continue the company's leap forward. The name in question is a 39-year-old superstar who is reportedly nearing an AEW exit.

On WrestleVotes Radio on Backstage Pass, JoeyVotes and TC spoke a bit about the sports entertainment juggernaut's marquee signing that didn't happen. It was rumored that the Lucha Bros, Rey Fenix, and Pentagon Jr. (aka Penta El-Zero Miedo) were set to leave AEW and sign with WWE. This was, of course, until Tony Khan's controversial decision, which we'll get into later.

JoeyVotes stated that Pentagon Jr., aka Penta El Zero Miedo, is right at the finish line in his AEW contract and is expected to sign with WWE regardless of the Rey Fenix situation. With Rey Fenix still having over half a year left on his contract, it's unknown whether Pentagon Jr. will debut as a singles star or sit on the sidelines till Fenix is all cleared to sign.

What did Tony Khan allegedly do to prevent The Lucha Brothers' WWE debut?

Messing with talent contracts in wrestling is a practice that has been happening for decades. However, there's just a greater magnifying glass on it now due to social media. So what did Tony Khan do that got many fans riled up?

According to a report from WrestlePurists a few months ago, the AEW boss found out about the plans to debut The Lucha Brothers on SmackDown and allegedly added injury time to Rey Fenix's contract and extended it by nine to ten months, blocking his exit:

"Tony [Khan] likes Rey Fenix. He’s always liked and respected Rey Fenix. He just felt that if he let this thing slide, other people were going to start taking advantage of him, and it was going to lead to a dam breaking. So they’re f**ked, and Penta has another month, I believe, and Fenix has nine-10 [more months]. Tony found out what the plan was for them on SmackDown, by the way, and that also informed this," the report stated. [H/T: Cultaholic]

It seems to be nothing personal against Fenix, but something Tony Khan felt he needed to do to set an example. Unfortunately, Fenix was caught in the crossfire, and it did nothing to help Tony Khan's reputation—whether the report is true or not.
