WWE Rumors: Vince McMahon wanted Alberto Del Rio back in the WWE

Alberto Del Rio has made several claims against WWE in the recent past

What’s the story?

According to reports by PWInsider, Vince McMahon allegedly wanted Alberto Del Rio back in the WWE. Del Rio, who currently performs for Impact Wrestling under the ring name Alberto El Patron, recently held a Q&A session on Periscope claiming that WWE has contacted him about a potential return.

In case you didn’t know...

Alberto del Rio aka El Patron (real name Jose Rodriguez) has performed for WWE in the past, winning some of the promotion’s biggest titles in the process between 2010 until his recent departure last year.

He has been at loggerheads with the company ever since.

The heart of the matter:

PWInsider has confirmed reports that the WWE contacted Del Rio in hopes of bringing him back to the company.

Del Rio had accused the WWE of mistreating him and recently posted a series of videos on social media, taking shots at the WWE and Triple H, in particular. When asked about burning bridges with his former employers, he reverted back with the following-

"I'm not burning bridges. I don't plan on going back there, it's them already calling me to go back to that company, but I'm not going back ever, ever, ever. I'm too happy being out of that place.

It was me quitting that place, not staying in that place and not wanting to stay, even after they did everything to try to keep me in that company, I said, 'no, I don't want to be there.'"

Furthermore, he had previously accused WWE of their involvement in the leaked pic/video scandal involving his fiancee Saraya-Jade Bevis (WWE’s Paige), stating that he knew who was responsible for the aforementioned incident but refrained from revealing the name(s).

What’s next?

The Mexican Superstar is presently under contract with Impact Wrestling where he performs under the ring name Alberto El Patron.

Author’s take:

Truth be told - Alberto’s claims about the WWE begging him to come back seemed a bit weird, at first.

However, something that makes one pause and think, is that Vince McMahon and co. are no strangers to working with performers who’ve had more than ugly send-offs from the company in the past. I mean, they brought back Bret Hart!

That said, don’t be expecting Alberto inside a WWE ring anytime soon. He seems genuinely upset at his ex-bosses and whatever his issues are with them, we, as fans, wish him the best in his future endeavours. Calmate Amigo!
