Seth Rollins won his second Money in the Bank briefcase at the recent Premium Live Event, shocking fans who wanted LA Knight as the winner. This is a massive power shift for Rollins, who can now cash in on either Jey Uso’s WWE World Heavyweight Championship or John Cena’s Undisputed WWE title.
However, a massive swerve could be coming for The Visionary as another top SmackDown star could try to get the briefcase from him. That is the recently returned Aleister Black!
Black and Rollins have a history dating back to 2020, when Buddy Matthews, a former follower of The Revolutionary, caused Black a kayfabe eye injury. On the recent episode of SmackDown, when The Architect and his goons attacked, there was a brief staredown between him and the former AEW star. Black could be looking for some revenge and might challenge Rollins to put his briefcase on the line in a match.
While it is not common, there have been times when a Money in the Bank winner has lost the briefcase to another star. The most notable was Mr. Kennedy, who won the briefcase at the 2007 Money in the Bank event. However, he put the case on the line against Edge, which saw The Rated-R Superstar win the contract. Black had recently also posted a photo on Instagram of himself and Seth Rollins standing face-to-face. Check out the 2nd slide.
Edge went on to successfully cash in on The Undertaker and win his first World Heavyweight title. Most recently, at the 2020 Money in the Bank PLE, AJ Styles and Baron Corbin fumbled the briefcase, leading to Otis winning only to lose it to The Miz via a kayfabe lawsuit. So, will Seth Rollins and Black have a singles match? This is only speculation for now, but it could easily happen in the near future.
Seth Rollins might not have a successful cash-in
Since winning the Money in the Bank briefcase, fans have speculated how and on whom Rollins could cash in. However, there is the issue of CM Punk. The Second City Saint has been feuding with The King Slayer ever since he returned to WWE at Survivor Series 2023. Punk could interfere anytime Rollins cashes in to foil his plan.
Another major name that could cause Seth Rollins to miss his chance to win gold via the briefcase is Roman Reigns. The OTC has yet to return since his hiatus following his loss at WrestleMania 41 at the hands of the current Money in the Bank briefcase holder. Everyone knows not to get on Roman's bad side, and right now, with the Wiseman, Paul Heyman, by his side, Rollins’ chances aren’t looking too good.
