Seth Rollins made his main roster debut alongside Dean Ambrose and Roman Reigns back at Survivor Series in 2012, but before he became one of the most popular superstars on the main roster, he was the inaugural NXT Champion.

Triple H knew that he was putting the NXT Championship in the best possible hands because he was already aware of the pedigree that Rollins had from his time on the Independent Circuit where he was known as Tyler Black; Rollins already faced a number of WWE's biggest stars before he ever joined the company and even a few stars that WWE would have liked to have signed a few years ago.

Rollins steals the show on a regular basis, but it is well-known that WWE often water down superstars move-sets when they are promoted to the main roster, which means that some of the matches Rollins had on the Independent circuit before he was contracted to WWE are still considered to be some of the best of his career.

#5. Tyler Black vs. Kevin Steen

Seth Rollins and Kevin Owens have already collided a number of times in WWE, but back in 2006 both men stepped into the ring for IWA Mid-south and had a match that proved that they were destined to be huge stars in the future.

Rollins was still performing under the ring name of Tyler Black back then, whilst Owens was known as Steen. Neither men missed a beat throughout the match which sawees Black kick out of Steen's signature pop-up powerbomb followed by pump-handle neckbreaker.

In the end, it was Steen going for the package piledriver that cost him the match as Black was able to reverse it into a jackknife pin for a quick three count.

#4. Tyler Black Vs Bryan Danielson

Many of the WWE fans claim that Daniel Bryan was one of the best technical wrestlers that ever stepped into a WWE ring, which could be why his retirement was such a heavy blow to many fans.

Before he came to WWE, Bryan had a lengthy stint on the Independent Circuit as well and was able to meet Rollins when he was wrestling as Tyler Black in Ring of Honor back in 2008. If you thought the matches between Seth Rollins and Daniel Bryan in WWE were a treat, then the above match between Bryan Danielson and Tyler Black is definitely a must see match.

#3. Tyler Black Vs. Johnny Gargano

Johnny Gargano is a former NXT Tag Team Champion and has already tested his mettle against some of the best wrestlers that WWE currently has to offer, including former World Champion Seth Rollins.

Rollins met Johnny Gargano when the duo were both part of a who at Absolute Intense Wrestling. This was the first ever encounter between the two men who currently populate WWE's roster, but if Gargano continues to perform the way that he is in NXT, then this will definitely be a match that the WWE Universe will be seeing again in the near future.

#2. Tyler Black Vs. Low-Ki

Low Ki may be one of the best known independent stars right now, but he is also a man who had a brief stint in WWE back in 2010 but was released from the company after just a year. He has since performed for both Impact Wrestling and New Japan Pro Wrestling.

His encounter with Seth Rollins came back in 2006 when Low Ki was making his debut for IWA Mid-South.

Low Ki shows the fire that he's been known for throughout his career in this match and it seems that whilst Black had the pace and ability to see him past Low Ki, he could not get past Low Ki.

#1. Tyler Black Vs. AJ Styles

There is a number of members of the WWE Universe right now who consider this to be a fantasy match for the future in WWE. If you watched the above video, you would completely understand why.

2006 was a fantastic year for Rollins on the Indy Circuit, Rollins faced off against AJ Styles at NWA No Limits. This is the only previous meeting between Styles and Rollins before these two were signed to WWE and it definitely doesn't disappoint.

It is interesting to see that even a decade ago Styles was managing to keep future World Champions down with his Styles Clash.
