Should CM Punk lose his WWE title at Royal Rumble?

WWE SummerSlam VIP Kick-Off Party

This week on RAW, CM Punk successfully defended his WWE Championship against Ryback in a TLC match, thanks to some useful help from none other than The Shield. This group has been instrumental in derailing Ryback every time he seems to gain momentum.

Later that evening, Punk returned back to the ring and dropped another classic pipebomb that will surely be considered one of his greatest moments in WWE. CM Punk, according to many, spoke the truth inside the ring, and for once he made The Rock’s extremely funny trash-talk look like trash. CM Punk reflected everything that a non-PG era fan feels today, and this has created a great deal of support for the so-called heel Punk.

With that said, one question that has risen amidst the chaos is whether CM Punk will lose his title against The Rock at Royal Rumble. If the answer is yes, then there are a few clarifications that the WWE has to provide.

It is quite clear from several WWE sources that CM Punk will lose his title at Royal Rumble to The Rock who will then go on to lose the title to Cena. Now the question that many hardcore wrestling fans will put forth is, why make CM Punk look like a loser after he has done a commendable job as the WWE Champion for 415 days? Just because The Rock is back after six months doesn’t mean he has to be the WWE Champion.

Moreover, if Cena has to win the title back from The Rock, then why give his previous WrestleMania match the ‘once in a lifetime’ tag? We all know John Cena will get the title back sometime this year, but that doesn’t mean it has to happen this way. CM Punk should be allowed to hold on to the title till WrestleMania for the wonderful work he has done to be a heel everyone now hates.

What happens in WrestleMania is a completely different story, but at least till then respect is what CM Punk demands and respect is what he deserves.
