#1 Rusev destroyed Cena on Twitter

When is it ever Rusev Day?
When is it ever Rusev Day?

Rusev competed against Randy Orton to be the fifth man in the Survivor Series traditional elimination match, between RAW and SmackDown Live this week. He would lose the contest and be out of the running for the coveted slot.

Shane McMahon later announced that the fifth member of the SmackDown Live roster would be none other than John Cena, who would be joining Randy Orton, Bobby Roode, Shinsuke Nakamura and team captain, Shane McMahon. Rusev was not amused and took to social media to air his grievances against Cena.

This is what Rusev had to say about Cena's inclusion into the SmackDown Live Team:

He is of course alluding to the fact that while the others had to compete to get their slots, Cena just stepped in and took up the last remaining spot. Rusev is unlikely to be in the card for Survivor Series.

It is heartbreaking, but hey, this is how things go in life. Let's hope that SmackDown Live realizes one day that they have a goldmine in Rusev and use him to his fullest potential.

#2 Jinder Mahal had a message for all his haters

Despite the big loss, Jinder Mahal still remains motivated
Despite the loss, Mahal remains motivated

After holding the WWE Championship for six months, Jinder Mahal lost to AJ Styles on SmackDown Live this week. This was a rather surprising move from WWE, considering that it's been years since this title changed hands on brand blue.

There was much speculation about the reason for Jinder Mahal's loss- wellness policy violation and shoulder injury, to name just two of them. Mahal went to Instagram and clarified that it wasn't either reason, really.

Jinder Mahal is truly a motivated man, and he is fuelled by the hate that people throw at him. We're certain he'll be champion again, maybe as soon as the Indian tour.

#3 Austin Aries made a shocking claim

The Vegan megastar spoke his mind on Talk is Jericho
The vegan megastar spoke his mind on Talk is Jericho

There was much speculation when Austin Aries left WWE, with regard to why he was parting ways with the company. One of the reasons speculated was that he was left out of the WrestleMania 33 DVD. Aries clarified that the reason was very different indeed.

There's a tweet I put out, that garnered some headlines, telling everyone that the Wrestlemania 33 DVD was available in Canada on Blu-Ray, unfortunately one of the best matches of the night was left off the DVD.

He went on to clarify how the Tweet went viral and caused wild speculation.

And so people took that and made it into 'one of the reasons Austin Aries left is because he was mad his match wasn't on the DVD'.

Why did Aries leave WWE then? Simply because the company had nothing for him right then.

Let's wish Aries all the best in the independents.

#4 Sin Cara updated us about his condition

He Tweeted an apology and a positive message too!
He Tweeted an apology and a positive message too!

SmackDown Live was in Madrid, Spain during the recent European tour for a live event, when Sin Cara suffered an injury. The man took to social media and posted a rather positive message.

In the message, Sin Cara stated that he was sad and disheartened about not being able to compete in Lisbon, Portugal. He apologized to his fans about the same. He also stated that he was looking to make a recovery and to return very soon.

We're looking forward to your return, Sin Cara. We're sure a certain Mr. Corbin isn't.

#5 Killswitch Engage working on a WWE track

Their bassist is a huge fan of professional wrestling

Killswitch Engage was recently interviewed by Loudwire, and they disclosed that they are currently working on two tracks that are related to professional wrestling. One is for WWE and another for a promotion they didn't name.

The metalcore band has formerly recorded the original theme song for former WWE superstar CM Punk as well. The WWE song they are working on now, is supposedly a cover song. However, Killswitch Engage are not big fans of the said song:

The group "had a tough time" with the song and Mike D. admitted there was some backlash from other members who didn't want to take on the cover. "And I get it. I understand. If it’s a really crappy song, if we've got to put our name on it, we don’t want our fans thinking we wrote something terrible," he added. "So we got this song to where we’re comfortable and we’re going to start recording it soon.”

Killswitch Engage go back on tour in January 2018.

#6 Vince McMahon is not upset with Jericho

McMahon even wished the List Man on his birthday
McMahon even wished the list maker on his birthday

The biggest match that is being discussed outside of WWE is the one between Chris Jericho and Kenny Omega at Wrestle Kingdom 12 on January 4th, 2018.

Many had felt that Jericho wrestling for NJPW would have invoked the wrath of Vince McMahon. We're glad to report that it did not. McMahon even wished Jericho on his forty seventh birthday.

We wonder if McMahon thinks that this is a great opportunity to get new eyeballs on WWE or if he believes that NJPW is not a real threat to him. We can only speculate for now.

And this brings us to the final item in our weekly countdown.

#7 Two special guests are coming to Survivor Series 2017

How cool will it be to see these two men return again?
How cool will it be to see these two men return again?

If Survivor Series 2017 wasn't already a star studded event, it's set to become even more so, very soon. Shawn Michaels and Jerry 'The King' Lawler will be coming to the pay-per-view in a few days, for the pre and post shows.

Renee Young will be joining the two Hall of Famers. Michaels is also slated to appear at NXT Takeover: WarGames the night before Survivor Series, for an ab-off with Johnny Gargano, whatever that means.

This concludes our weekly countdown for the time being. Did we miss out on any news, this week? Let us know in the comments. We'd love to hear from you.
