Slamforce Africa, a newly formed professional wrestling promotion based in South Africa, hosted their first show, Slamforce Africa 01 on October 27th, which featured pro-wrestlers from different parts of the world.

Five matches took place at the event, with two new champions being crowned. The event emanated live from Pretoria, South Africa. In the main event, two former WWE Superstars battled it out for the vacant SFA World Championship.


#1 X-Terminator vs Makita - Qualifying match for the vacant SFA Continental Championship

The show kicked off with the first SFA Continental Championship qualifying match between local wrestler X-Terminator and the Cameroonian Makita. This was the first David vs Goliath match on the card. X-Terminator went for a kick to the midsection, giving him the advantage early on in the match.

He tossed Makita across the ring from one corner to the other, which invoked a loud reaction from the crowd. The Indomitable Lion put his football skills to work, using his legs to bring the larger X-Terminator to his knees. A spinning kick to the midsection from Makita brought the big man down, as the crowd showed their support for him. The former delivered a superkick for a near fall. X-Terminator caught Makita from the top rope and delivered a powerslam for another near fall.

The match came to end after Makita hit X-Terminator with his Tears of the Sun finishing move (spinning heel kick), earning him the victory.

#2 Matthew Hammar vs Kilimanjaro

Next, South Africa's Matthew Hammar took on Nigeria's Kilimanjaro. This was the second David vs Goliath match. Hammar used his quick legs in an attempt to weaken his larger opponent. Kilimanjaro delivered a splash in the corner followed by a sidewalk slam. He then proceeded by nailing the fallen Hammar with a leg drop.

It took not one, not two but four dropkicks to bring The Mountain down. Kilimanjaro delivered a devastating spinebuster to an incoming Hammar for a near fall. Finally, the towering wrestler hit Matthew Hammar with a chokeslam and a powerbomb for the three count.

#3 Kyle Ripley vs Andro Perseus - Qualifying match for the vacant SFA Continental Championship

Andro Perseus delivered multiple blows to Kyle Ripley in the corner, and both wrestlers had turns punching each other in the corners of the ring. Perseus hit Ripley with a bodyslam for a near fall.

Ripley struck Perseus with a jumping cutter, giving him the advantage. The action spilled out of the ring after Ripley delivered a suicide dive to the War Machine on the outside. The former applied an armbar on Perseus, but the latter broke the hold by lifting Ripley and slamming him on the mat with a standing powerbomb.

In the end, Perseus lifted Ripley and hit him with a Jackhammer for the three count.

Andro Perseus will collide with Makita for the SFA Continental Championship at Slamforce Africa 02.

Following the match, the first two winners, Kilimanjaro and Makita, made their way to the ring for an in-ring segment. The two wrestlers talked about their match and how it felt competing in the event.

Kilimanjaro revealed The Undertaker and Stone Cold Steve Austin as the wrestlers he grew up watching and he stated that he wants to get in the ring with The Deadman one day.

Meanwhile, Makita talked about being the underdog, coming from Cameroon, and being the Indomitable Lion. He also stated that he played football before becoming a wrestler. He revealed that Bill Goldberg was the man who got him hooked on watching wrestling.

He also mentioned Eddie Guererro as the man who inspired him to get into the sport despite being little. He also expressed his wish to face PJ Black in South Africa before hanging up his boots. Both wrestlers were asked if they would want to step into the ring with each other in a match, and they both accepted, teasing a match in the future against one another.

#4 Celeste Bonin vs Katie Forbes vs Black Widow - triple threat match for the vacant SFA Women's Championship

When the match began, Celeste Bonin and Katie Forbes teamed up against Black Widow. Their alliance didn't last long though, as Katie immediately turned her back on Bonin. The latter delivered a cannonball to both Forbes and Widow in the corner of the ring and pinned both wrestlers for a two count.

Black Widow went for the Spear, but Katie Forbes got out of the way, resulting in Celeste hitting the turnbuckles and the ring post hard. Forbes laid out Widow with a facebuster, but Bonin broke up the pin. Black Widow locked Forbes in a submission, but the latter rolled out of the ring after grabbing the ropes to break the hold.

Bonin hit Widow with a spear, winning the match and becoming the inaugural SFA Women's Champion.

After the match, Celeste Bonin returned to the ring for an in-ring segment. When asked how she felt becoming the first-ever Slamforce Africa Women's Champion, she stated that she hasn't been champion for a long time and winning the SFA Title was extremely meaningful for her because she is the first person to hold the title.

Former UFC fighter and South African MMA legend Gareth "Soldier boy" McLellan came out to present the SFA World Championship.


#5 PJ Black vs Rob Van Dam - SFA World Championship

PJ Black spent around two minutes or less entertaining his fellow South Africans in the arena before the bell rang. The crowd erupted in cheers when he removed his shirt to reveal the country's rugby jersey he was wearing underneath, showing his support for the Springboks during the 2019 Rugby World Cup.

The match started off rather slowly, with the two wrestlers showcasing their technical abilities in the ring. RVD threw Black outside the ring and slammed him on the unprotected wooden floor. The fight continued outside, with Rob Van Dam suplexing PJ Black on the ramp. Both wrestlers managed to beat the ten count, with the match continuing in the ring.

Black went on the top rope and delivered a diving crossbody on RVD, sending both men crashing through the ring! Black pinned Van Dam for a two count, and the match continued. Black locked RVD in the Sharpshooter, and shockingly, the former WWE Champion tapped out.

PJ Black celebrated his win with the fans and cut a promo after the match.
