SmackDown Preview: Faction reunites, former IC champion returns from injury

Will Roman Reigns get his revenge?
Will Roman Reigns get his revenge?

It's the first episode of SmackDown Live after WWE Super ShowDown 2019. While RAW was a bit of a disappointment, we don't expect the same of the blue brand. If anything, we expect a stronger show, though we do feel that the Wildcard rule has done a lot of damage to SmackDown Live.

Either way, SmackDown Live tonight looks to be quite an interesting episode as we head closer towards the next PPV - WWE Stomping Grounds. Last week, SmackDown ended with the shocking sight of Goldberg and The Undertaker going face-to-face. The match, as expected, didn't live up to expectations.

But novelty attractions aside, last week saw Kofi Kingston & Xavier Woods defeat Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn. Alexa Bliss became the next #1 contender to the SmackDown Women's title while Roman Reigns was attacked by Shane McMahon and Drew McIntyre. Here's what you need to look forward to on SmackDown Live this week!

#4. Bayley looks to rebound from RAW

In the latest WWE NEWS, Bayley had another disappointing outing at her hometown of San Jose, California. Who can forget two years ago when she was humiliated by Alexa Bliss and lost the RAW Women's Championship to her in her hometown?

Last night on RAW, she suffered further humiliation when she was pinned by Lacey Evans when teaming up with fellow-Horsewoman Becky Lynch. Either way, it's time for the SmackDown Women's Champion to rebound from the loss and she's going to look to do that as soon as tonight. Will Bayley manage to get one over or will Alexa Bliss come out and humiliate Bayley as she did in 2017?

Bayley had zero comeuppance then, so hopefully, it doesn't turn out to be the same way this time around.

#3. The 24/7 chaos continues

On the latest episode of RAW, the 24/7 Championship chase didn't really go as expected. But that was because 5-time 24/7 Champion R-Truth was stuck inside an elevator with Carmella, Cedric Alexander, Drake Maverick and Heath Slater.

Since there was no referee, the six superstars were forced to sit and make casual conversation inside the elevator. The moment it was fixed, of course, there was a referee and multiple other superstars waiting to pin R-Truth.

Naturally, chaos ensued and R-Truth tried to slip away from things. Thankfully for him, Carmella was inside the elevator on time and she helped pull him away from all the chaos. EC3, despite being next to the open/close button didn't press it and the 24/7 Champion got away with it again.

What chaos will ensue with the 24/7 title this week? It'll be entertaining for sure.

#2. Roman Reigns to respond to Shane McMahon?

Shane McMahon was more than happy to brag about his victory over Roman Reigns at WWE Super ShowDown. He acknowledged the fact that Roman Reigns has beaten the likes of The Undertaker and Brock Lesnar and bragged about beating The Big Dog and never having been pinned before by him.

The way he's talking, it almost seems certain that he will get pinned by Roman Reigns at some point in the future. However, Reigns was absent from RAW for the first time since the Wildcard rule and didn't respond to McMahon and Drew McIntyre's trash talk.

Tonight, we're more than likely to see The Revival appear on SmackDown to celebrate with Shane McMahon. Shane vowed that the party would continue if they did win the tag team titles and that's exactly what happened.

But will the newly-formed group have to go through Roman Reigns? Will The Big Dog respond?

#1. The New Day reunites

An epic main event!

Former Intercontinental Champion Big E returns from injury for the second time - but this time, he'll be competing properly. Last time he made a return, he was attacked by a mystery figure that turned out to be Dolph Ziggler.

The Showoff would proceed to beat down Kofi Kingston and insert himself into the WWE Championship picture. He was handily defeated at WWE Super ShowDown but he challenged Kofi Kingston to another match at Stomping Grounds - this time inside a steel cage.

RAW superstar Sami Zayn will once more team up with Kevin Owens and also has Dolph Ziggler on his team as they look to take on one of the all-time great tag teams - The New Day.

Will the Power of Positivity prevail or will the trio of Owens, Ziggler and Zayn pull off the big upset? Find out in our live coverage!
