SummerSlam 2019: 5 mistakes WWE made at the event

#2 Edge's appearance was essentially wasted

Edge was on hand last night to silence Elias

There were a number of WWE Hall of Famers who were part of last night's show in Toronto, including Trish Stratus and Goldberg, as well as Bret Hart and Ric Flair who appeared in backstage segments and Booker T and Jerry Lawler who were on the kick-off panel.

One of the biggest shocks came as part of the pre-show though, when Elias decided to insult the Canadian crowd and Edge was the man who was sent out to stop it. Elias was then speared by Edge, who was able to perform a physical move in the ring for the first time since his retirement back in 2011.

The worst part about this whole situation is that WWE then went on to ruin it because Elias came out as a special guest enforcer for Kevin Owens vs Shane McMahon later in the night and didn't even sell the fact that he had been speared.

Drew McIntyre would have been a better pick, but WWE reportedly didn't want to make him look weak, since Owens was able to take out both Elias and McMahon to win the match and retain his job.
