Was this really the ending that WWE planned for the WWE Championship match?

A match that had been building for more than a decade ended in a double count-out last night, but many of the WWE Universe have questioned as to whether or not this was supposed to happen.

Randy Orton was seemingly enjoying beating Kofi Kingston in front of his family so he forgot that the referee was counting and a future match could now be one that means the count-out rule is switched off.

WWE has no plans for these former AEW wrestlers? Here's why!

Looking at the end of the match, it appears that the idea could have been for Kingston to actually be disqualified when he snapped and attacked Orton with the kendo stick, this would be a win for Orton and would then lead to a match between the two men again at Clash of Champions.

This double count-out has left quite a few questions for the WWE Universe since it's now not clear what the company are going to do with this storyline or if it was a botched ending that they will now have to try to creatively cover-up before the next pay-per-view.

Either way, Kingston has retained his title for the time being, it's just sad that his match ended in this way.
