5 best 'sellers' in WWE history

Dolph Ziggler makes his opponents look so good, it's been detrimental to him

A professional wrestling match isn't all about a wrestler's offence. In a match, a wrestler not only has to show his skills but at the same time also cultivate his opponent. Selling in professional wrestling is an art that not many people are a master of.

Selling your opponent's moves is as important as hitting your own move. If there is no selling, then the whole point of the match seems lost. Selling is what makes a wrestling manoeuvre great. Can you imagine Stone Cold Stunner without The Rock selling it?

In fact, the art of selling is such that a simple body slam could look much more dangerous than a powerbomb if the former is done on a guy like Dolph Ziggler.

Throughout the years, we have seen many guys who have gone to a whole another level when it comes to selling their opponent's move. Here we look at the 5 best sellers in WWE's history.

# Brock Lesnar

Brock Lesnar is probably one of the most underrated superstars when it comes to selling. Even though he's built like a bull, The Beast Incarnate has never hesitated in putting over his opponents. Brock Lesnar is known for bringing a shoot fight intensity in his matches and his selling is a big part of this intensity in his matches.

A great example of this is the build-up of his match against Samoa Joe at Great Balls of Fire. Despite being booked as an invincible object throughout the year, The Beast Incarnate happily put over Samoa Joe even though he beat him, as Lesnar sold the Coquina Clutch like no one has ever had.

# Ric Flair

Ric Flair is one of the most entertaining wrestlers ever, be it on the mic or wrestling. He was a pioneer in the professional wrestling and that includes selling his opponent's move too. Ric Flair actually sold moves in a very humorous way sometimes which many often felt as overselling.

Regardless of that, The Nature Boy had the ability to make every basic move look devastating. Back in his days, there were no such gravity-defying moves. Most of the moves of that era are considered as ordinary moves right now. This is what makes Flair a legend when it comes to selling. He took those simple moves and made them look dangerous.

From a simple chop to the chest to a body slam, Flair could sell it all. Even when past his prime, the Dirtiest player in the game never back down from selling a move.

# The Rock

Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson is a full package with every quality you want in a top star. The Rock always brought his A game whether it was laying the smackdown in the ring or on the mic. There was never a moment when he gave it his 99%. However, when it comes to selling, The Rock always gave his 150%.

The only reason why he isn't placed higher on the list is that he often oversold the moves, most notably the stunner. A Stone Cold Stunner is incomplete without The Rock on the receiving end. While The Stunner is a great move itself, The Rock added a special effect to it. He used to flip all the way across the ring as if hit by a train. This, however, made it look a little unrealistic.

# Dolph Ziggler

<p>

Dolph Ziggler is arguably the best seller in WWE right now or perhaps the best seller in the last 8 years or so. Since his debut in 2008, as Dolph Ziggler, he has amazed everyone with his effective selling.

'The Show-off' has put forward many amazing matches on a consistent basis and Ziggler's selling is often the most notable part of his matches.

On June 16, 2013, Dolph Ziggler faced Alberto Del Rio in his first title defence of the World Heavyweight Championship. During the match, Ziggler took numerous brutal kicks to his face and ultimately lost the match and the title.

However, his selling was so effective that the match led to a double turn for both the wrestlers. Dolph Ziggler's current status with the company is in jeopardy but if he does leave, WWE will surely lose a great talent.

# Rob Van Dam

When it comes to taking bumps, Rob Van Dam is second to none. RVD has been dropped on his head more than one person can count. The number of sick bumps RVD has taken over the years actually amazes me that he hasn't broken his neck yet.

If you want to see a great piledriver or a DDT or a curb stomp or even an RKO, look no forward. Mr Pay Per View has sold them all to perfection.

The other thing that makes Mr Monday Night better than others is that he sold his moves as well as he sold his opponent's move. It may sound strange but whenever RVD went for a high-risk move, he made sure that it took a lot out of him too.

Whenever RVD hits a Five Star Frog Splash, he rolls around the canvas like it hurt him more than his opponent. This adds to the storytelling that if you are doing a move like that, you are going to hurt yourself too. This is one thing that we don't usually see a lot these days.
